Forget scan radius, and forget hit box the best way, in my opinion, to make shield users suffer, add a mechanic where you get feedback damage everytime your shields go down, the damage from this feedback should be .35(shield HP)=feedback damage. So if a suit has 500 shields the feedback damage to armor would be 175, that's enough to 1 shot a Assault ck.0 with no armor plates. The more shields you stack the higher the damage, meaning just like armor suits have to micromanage speed and HP, shields suits have to balance their shield HP with armor HP.

With this in place I would gladly take a flaylock shot to the face with 135% damage multiplier, because now we are all suffering from something.

This basically kills buffer tanks for all but heavies. As a shield tank i agree that we lack a proper penalty as of now, but i think that effectively removing a certain fitting paradigms from most of the affected suits, thus hurting diversity, is too large of a price for the game in general.

Actually a buffer shield tank would use all shield and armor slots therefore a shield buffer tank would survive the damage with around 200 armor HP. The same with an armor tank except they would survive it with around 400.

I understand that Shields lack a penalty, but killing us for having our shields go down seems extremely harsh, more then New Eden harsh.

Switch armor plates to a stamina use penalty, and give shields a scan radius penalty.

Both then have a penalty to use, but not a instant death for using either.

We do have a instant death penalty its called explosives, and the more armor we stack the more susceptible we are to being blown away to a million pieces.

I think a bigger hitbox is the way to go. Stack lots of shield mods on a medium suit and you have the hitbox of a heavy. Near misses now become hits.

I am a pure armor tanker also, the idea is to punish shield stacking just like armor stacking is punished. Shield tanking and stacking only comes with rewards, while armor comes with penalties.
