Hi guys,
As I read through the forums I see a bunch of people who want to respec when new updates are put out. I kind of sympathize with those people.
We work hard to come up with good loadouts and when things are changed we can often be left with "orphan" skills and have to start from scratch.
I've seen some very good suggestions on how to handle this.
I have another one.
It is pretty simple. How about letting people respec one skill? When this is done, all the downstream skills from that point get reset also.
IMHO something should be allowed when changes we can't foresee are made.
My two cents.

I'm going to add my own 2 cents to your thread...
Make it cost isk and sp to do a respec. Give the respec a cooldown period. Use AUR to reduce the total cooldown period up to a maximum percentage (not too much but enough that it is worth a few bucks). |

No respecs are coming.
Bank your SP and diversify. |

Those two suggestions are mutually exclusive.
Are you suggesting that I play with one static skill set for a whole month (or more) before I make a decision about what I'm going to spec into?
People are getting more and more proto gear and hitting level 5 skills. The ones who made the "right" choices do better, even though the choices they made were nothing but good luck. If I play with the same basic skills for a whole month, I'll get pretty boned and won't earn SP like I could if I was maxed.
And what about the poor n00b? Sit in the academy? You get bumped out of the academy once you get enough SP. Academy =/= the non-academy game.
I shouldn't have to put up with capricious changes by CCP.

The academy is a whole different animal.
No, they aren't mutually exclusive. Bank your SP when you are waiting for something new or anticipate changes. Diversify your SP so that whatever changes come, you are prepared - you know, like real life.
You don't need proto to do well and make isk. You probably shouldn't be running proto in pubs anyway.
Decisions in New Eden are permanent. Plan accordingly.

The only time a respec should come is when all racial frames &weapons are complete that means light medium and heavy frame as well light weapon, heavy weapon, sidearm, and AV for all the races |

Munch You can gamble by full on specializing or play it safe by having some SP in reserve, (you know you can spend some of your SP instead of everything or nothing, right?) you can focus on core skills and generally only skill into levels 1-3 for the time beeing. Boom, full fit every few days. All of this is viable, fun, and pretty much the standard advice most players give out first. I don't believe you didn't know this.
Now the poor noob. Yeah, what about him? A Noob that started with 1.2 release can be as good a commando as any vet. He can try and be relevant because every time new gear is released or fits immerge due to balance changes, new players can be the first to get them just as the vet that specialized in another branch.
Give him respecs and he can undo his 30k SP he wasted before noticing that the triangle button shows info of everything. Great. But he won't ever be able to stand toe on toe against a two year old player because he just respecced to fully proto the new commando suit by release and he will continue to be unable to do so because, whatever is released, the old players are already respeccing into it.
You shouldn't have to put up with anything from CCP. Also you don't and you know that. You joined, knowing that respecs ain't gonna happen. So did i. The difference between us is that you want to fundamentally change what the game is about. I just want what i came here for. |

OP, do your homework before posting thread #2895286558659882535255538655174714716 of the same topic. CCP has already made it painfully clear that there will be no more respecs in the foreseeable future. The last official respec occurred just last month. CCP knows there are players asking for more respecs but they are not changing their minds.
However, a skillback booster was suggested earlier by someone. You should give it a read.
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=86041
CCP Cmdr Wang said they are looking into it. The skill back booster idea is fair enough. Read it and think about it. |
