So Pilot Suit skills have been seen. They give bonuses to Vehicles when you are in a suit and in a vehicle depending on the rank you have in Pilot Suits. Cool, cool.
So why would you ever use anything above Standard? I can see why having Rank 5 in Pilot Suits might be useful but what would be the point in using a Prototype Suit over a Standard one. If I am calling in a Tank, I am using the cheapest suit possible. Since Pilot Suits will give me a huge bonus for my Tanks, I sill surely max it but what is the point of using anything higher than standard?
Just food for thought. |

I can think of a couple reasons.
Different tiers may offer different/better boosts to vehicles.
Different tiers may offer benefits such as an equipment slot for a repair tool, so you can get out and repair your armor. Useful to shield tankers.
Since we don't spawn in our vehicles (despite my suggestions) those of us who play ambush have to spend time dodging bullets until we can get somewhere safe to call in. Having a suit with more HP/PG/CPU/slots could come in handy in those circumstances. |

I wouldn't mind knowing what weapon slot it's going to have... I wouldn't be surprised if it's a sidearm, though. |

I can understand if higher levels give a better boost that CCP has not tied any boost to any kind of suit before, ala EVE. If they don't with the Pilot Suit, there is literally no reason to ever use a non-standard one. |

1. why go proto? if CCP released mods for suits that affected attibutes of your vehicle then sure. i imagine they would work like the hardwiring implants in eve do. so higher tier suits would have more slots, etc..
2. if having HP/CPU/PG is necessary for survivability to get somewhere to call in then why not have a cloaking mod. make the pilot suit the only suit it can go on and viola! you could still fit things like in bullet 1 and circumvent the ground battle threat. |

I hadn't thought of this, but it is a very good question. I suppose they could introduce dropsuit modules that affect your vehicles, though that sounds kind of strange. I also see the argument of needing to survive until you call in your vehicle, but even in the starter fits it's easy to run far away in ambush to call in a vehicle.
The way I see it, the best thing they can do is create a use for pilot suits when out of vehicles. That may sound counter-intuitive, but hear me out. Perhaps pilots can have a perk where they hack vehicles faster, or even hack vehicles while enemies are inside. Perhaps pilots in close proximity to friendly vehicles can provide additional passive buffs, or even negative buffs when near enemy vehicles. Perhaps the pilot suit can even work like the supply depots do for vehicles, simply get near one and automatically start repairing your vehicle with no additional inputs required.
This is all just off the top of my head and may be garbage, but you get the idea. There are ways to make the pilot suit special when on foot while retaining its vehicle-centric role. |

It's pretty safe to assume they'll give more than just a level bonus. Remember that they're supposed to have unique modules that improve vehicle performance. |

Just food for thought. We haven't seen what the suits themselves will do yet. |
