You are too late. The deadline for requesting the FINAL RESPEC has already past since May 31 this year. No more respecs according to CCP. |

This gentleman asked politely, but he still didn't get one. At least not after the accidental one that he wasn't suppose to receive. |

I was asked why I thought that Borderlands was such a better game than Dust 514.
Well, the biggest reason was the Skill Tree could be reset. Cheaply, I might add. Which meant that very limited SP could be reassigned to try something else, tune your skill set for a particular battle, opponent or weapon choice. At the highest level I rarely change them. It is just lower levels that need the assistance.
CCP wants this FPS to mimic that restrictive, but emergent game play , other game they have. To take seven years to max out a FPS is ... well, wrong. The meta-game should handle that but it has crashed out.
So what is to keep us ground pounders interested? Skill Trees are a lot of it.
Give me a percentage of a skill reset, don't refund ISK, I bought the Skill Book so I should keep it. Let me pay ISK to reset 50% of my Skills. Let me delete the Skill from the Node display. Then if I get an Office weapon or just some advanced weapon I have yet to skill into I can see if it is worthy or worthless to me. Even better to allow me to save a version of the Skill Tree, although I usually just made a picture of it with my iPad on Borderlands.
Charge 250K ISK for the privilege but Do Not refund Skill Books.
For 1/2M ISK I can change to try something out, play with new toys, see if the recent addition to the game will allow me to drop something I am not good with. And that would allow me to change back to my first choice as well. More fun, more interesting game play could evolve.
Maybe even emerge. |

This isn't designed to be like other FPSes where you cap out everything in a month or two and then you're done. You need to keep in mind that when you max out a specialization, you are now at least as good in that specialization as someone else who has only it, or someone that maxed up seven. |

Yes, but with the way the games designed, why not offer an Aurum based respect? I mean, specializing may work for some people, but being able to run several different suits and variations is soo much more fun, and quite frankly, the way the game was intended to be played. Just sayin CCP, let's tree talk about it at least, because isn't that what keeps this game alive, ppl playing! (and paying) |

The general consensus among people who don't want respecs is that Aurum-based ones are only marginally better than "all respecs, all the time." Because with that, not only do you have the problem of people flocking to the Flavor of the Month, you prevent casual and/or broke players from being able to do anything about it.
If you want to specialize, specialize. If you want to spread your stuff out, do so, but know that it comes at the cost of not having access to as good a suit as the guy who puts all his eggs in one basket. |

CPM Iron Wolf Saber is a die hard generalist who has a point in everything but can barely use anything beyond standard and i think he does just fine.
In Dust you can be a strong specialist or an average generalist. You have to decide if you want the variety of tactical options to outsmart your enemies or the raw power of a focused niche.

heh, make respecs 50m isk, or 20k aurum. Although a year or two down the line 50m isk will be nothing. |

Dust is a different beast altogether. It was not intended to become just like other shooters. This one is intended to expand forever and ever and eventually merge with the Eve Online economy, have its own player-elected council in the future, and introduce the hardline culture of New Eden into the FPS world. You may find the hardline culture to be alien to you as a FPS player, but the culture is coming. |
