To make them slaves? No.
To force them to submit to your will? Oh, absolutely.
Yes, the Caldari bring this up a fair bit. They've never forgotten, and never forgiven, what you did to them. |

You are correct in this much, Mr. Draco: the Caldari State is a highly structured society. Its caste system is not rigid (it is possible-- at the low level, even easy-- to move through it), but it, and the megacorporations, are omnipresent.
The Caldari did not come of age on a garden world, Mr. Draco: Caldari Prime is, with all respect to both the world itself and the people who literally call it "Home," a snowball dotted with mud, rocks, and trees. The growing seasons are short, and the winters are long and harsh. Under constant pressure from the elements, the Caldari came to see life as a trial, a test of strength, in every possible sense.
They are determined to survive that test.
The "poor" of the Caldari State are the nonentity "caste." Getting fired by your corporation has somewhat more severe consequences for the Caldari than for workers of most cultures: one who loses corporate citizenship loses all legal standing-- legally, that person is dead, and, in fact, is expected to commit suicide as a matter of honor. Nonentities also include indigenous populations who do not become clients of the Caldari.
My own people, the Achura, are a client state of the Caldari. Unless we entirely adopt Caldari ways, we are not welcome to live among them. We have no place inside the Caldari culture, and thus, no caste. However, because we are a client state, we are still legally "people," and are protected by Caldari law. We have our own communities, and live our lives apart from our Caldari patrons.
The Caldari approach to their own who fall off the corporate ladder is a harsh, but it is an understandable one. The community cannot afford to support those who cannot aid in supporting it, in turn, when the wind is howling at the door and food supplies are running low.
As for the Caldari unwillingness to mingle with outsiders to their culture, it is your people who taught them that. |

This is ... a lovely thing to see, Mr. Kalamari.
Thank you. |

Being a politically reasonable, thoughtful person. Plasma canon specialists often seem to be more common. |

Hm. The original topic was a sort of oblique Amarrian whine about an assault suit mobility upgrade.
Was it worth saving? |
