I propose a system in-game where the player can purchase a skill point re-allocation through ISK, or even through sacrificing a percentage of current skill points. With every skill point re-allocation purchase, the cost of this feature will increase until it caps at a very high but reasonable cost.
example. costs 1 million ISK to re-spec for the first time. the cost immediately increments to 5 million ISK to re-spec once a re-spec has been purchased. the cost then increments to 15 million ISK to re-spec after a second purchase, and will stay at 15 million from that point onwards.
a cap to the amount of re-specs you can purchase could also be implemented to maybe 1 re-spec a week.
It is very obvious that skill points need to be handled in re allocatable manner, and you (the dust dev team) said yourselves that it would take 7 years to get all available skills maxed when the full game is released.
I would also like to request a personal skill point re-spec, allowing me to respend my 5.8m skill points. I have horribly messed them up and i desperately need this. I expected a re-spec with the recent update, and as a result, i didnt ask for one. But to my disappointment, i now have to ask.

Which means CCP would have to think before they release these updates. Right now to me update means smash everything with the nerf hammer. Maybe normalize it a little bit sometime down the road, maybe not. |

Wrong, I'll give an example: allow players to untrain ONE skill-level of a specific skill (with the loss of X% SP of that skill-level) per week.
This allows players to correct mistakes and try more stuff without a boring wait on more SP. It allows the players to be a bit more adventerous instead of waiting and copying a successfull build from other players who are afraid to miss out on the fun. the best part is that all this FOTM-stuff is just bogus with this system. |

+1 I'm for this.
ISK and/or Aurum respecs.
If a radical rebalance can have detrimental effect to your fit, you should be allowed to do a radical change. Snipers weren't overpowered for any reason, but their damage profile was rebalanced for new purposing. A purpose I did not skill into them for.
I did not skill into sniper rifles to be potent vs. armor. I skilled into sniper rifles to be potent vs. everybody. If I can't be potent vs. everybody, I choose to be potent vs. shield assaults. The rebalancing of the damage profiles has changed that for me.
Should I now be forced to just deal with it, even though I had the foresight to know exactly what I wanted, but was not warned that this change would take place? |

This NEEDS to be in the game. Hell I'd pay aurum, and so would 90% of players. Unless CCP doesn't like money in their pockets. |

With every update there are things going downtown, stuff being rebalanced or changed or nerfed to oblivion.
Without the ticket reset I would have stopped playing altogether, because I only found out that MDs are f-Ścked after I put 2 mils into them.
And they did stay f-Ścked for at least 2 months. 2 months long the game was unplayable the way I specd. I got my respec day one and specd into SRs instead. Now however MDs are unf-Ścked, and Id really like to spec back into them. Sh!t like this happens all the time, you cant expect from a player to accept that any decision he makes may or may not be nullified by an update to gameplay mechanics.
Make this expensive, make it AUR only for all I care, but make this a thing until you (CCP) can guarantee that the skills I buy do exactly what it says on the lable 2 months after still. |

Two things CCP needs to do.
One. No faqing stealth nerfs. If there is one thing that lights a fire under a mans ass is that somebody did something important, and kept it a secret.
Two. Balance everything slowly, and tell us what happened so we can provide feedback on that so it doesn't instantly become unusable without warning.
It is these two things that make these respec threads prop up, cause CCP didn't take it slow and killed someone's build. |

This way when you respec it isn't just hers your brain full and whole, go spec into that proto gear.
You can pull SP outta that skill you hate, and put it somewhere else without Protobears just respecting into OP FOTM gear and the like.
Make the "surgery to get this neural remap done extremely costly. Like 10 mil ISK.

Absolute NO to any system that asks/requires/allows players to lose some skillpoints in order to allocate others.
Any option to pay for respecs via isk or aurum should be massively expensive and subject to continuing to review so that it stays massively expensive. For example if you make respecs 150m isk or something. 2 years from now when I can send isk from my Eve character, 150m won't mean ****. |

No. There is no single reason for that. You get ENDLESS SP. If you want to try out that new shiny suit the patch introduced then just save up for it. Nobody wants a game where everybody always respecs to use the current OP equipment. |

no to respecs...
if we had never seen a first respec things would be very diffrent...
most matches i see in instant battle all i see is full proto users....
proto users who begged for the respecs because they were stupid the way the spent their sp the FIRST TIME.
that is the way i see things.. |

QFT.
The only massive problem here is people's inability to read.
No more respecs.
For why, use the search button as low genius suggests.

i hate to admit it ... but i think that maybe when all racial equipment is released, the whole game should be reset. existing players to like 10% current SP (unless that number falls below 500k) , and new players start with 500k SP. This would shut every human being up about imbalance and skill points respec. If you don't like it, then oh well :P
Getting tired posting about this topic now :P

I'd get behind a respec system, but I'm pissed that they are doing all this shady balancing.
"Oh the AR is a test bed for X weapon that hasn't come out yet."
Just release the damn weapon, and let us fk with it, stop adjusting and releasing stuff without giving it a proper counter. |

Quoted from another thread (some of the concerns raised have gone essentially unanswered since they were raised during closed beta)
Cross Atu wrote:See this thread for all the reasons why an unlimited or 'pay to play" respec system is bad for Dust and bad for New Eden. There are quite a few points raised in that thread, but if you can work out a way around those drawbacks then by all means lets discuss it. Cheers, Cross ps ~ there is however another thread which provided a possible alternative that solves many of the issues raised within the first link, perhaps starting there would be more desirable.
An added note, there is a remap system in EVE, this is not a respec as it does not allow the reallocation of any SP already assigned. What the remap does is effect the rate at which new skills are gained by allowing for a reduced cost in a specialized area at the price of an increased cost in all other areas. The specialization may be reset once every 12 months but no faster. I would also support a mechanic similar to this being present in Dust to alleviate some of the concerns that motivate players to desire a respec.
