I just thought to myself: Why is there even PROTO and officer AV in the game in the first place? There's no PROTO vehicles, there's not even advanced vehicles. SO why would there be PROTO and Officer gear?

You can thank CCP for replacing marauders (sagaris/surya) with crappy enforcer tanks like Falchion and Vayu. As far as i know nobody uses them and they stick with the Gunnlogi/Madgrugar. Another thing that hurted tanks survivability is the removal of added PG from the skill "vehicle engineering". Previously it gave you +5% on the PG per lvl and you could make very effective tanks. So basically they replaced the proto tanks with tanks that are even weaker then STD tanks and nerfed the PG to gimp fittings. And this is the reason why you see most tankers in the redline with a railgun sniping. According to CCP marauders will make a comeback SOONGäó. The last time ive heard that i was anticipating Laser and artillery turrets and that was like 1 year ago in the E3 build. |

Balancing. The fact that one person can use a tank to destroy an entire team was a problem. Why should one person have to be taken out by a team of 6?
Them taking out the tanks was a good thing and the commando class is a step in the right direction. The plasma cannon just needs to be buffed. Ideally it should be one AV commando vs one tank. Both should suffer high ISK loss for their inherent strengths. |

No, I just thought to myself, I always see PROTO AV out in almost every game, but not a single PROTO vehicle, and it dawned on me: why is it there in the first place? Furthermore, if people is only going to use PROTO t kill vehicles, or rather, people think using the same level gear is ineffective without teamwork, then why is it even there? It just makes no sense......... |

Yes, but seeing as though that Railgun is less inaccurate than a Forge Gun (yes, trust me, they are), and turns much slower, plus, dropsuits can go to spots that HAV's can only dream of, Both of those points are negated. |

As someone who has used railguns since closed beta started... I don't think forgeguns are more accurate. I can hit a bunny-hopping swarm-spamming scoutsuit 300 meters away just fine in mid-jump, and I even manage to headshot people with it just fine (A whole new definition to "countersniping" snipers).
Using HAVs properly is an artform, and I firmly believe that a single HAV shapes a battlefield much faster then a single forgegunner.
I can roll out of cover, slam two or three rounds into a force, and roll back before anyone realizes. I can prop myself up on a hill and dominate the skies faster then any forgegunner ever could. Simply rolling down the street I can use my HAV as a weapon, kill infantry at full speed and destroy even logi-LAVs without much more then a dent simply by running them over. I can roll down an avenue and force every sniper taking refuge in the rooftops and pipes to move.. Or Die.
The instant a forgegun appears on a kill-feed, every vehicle operator changes their plans from that instant on. The instant an HAV heavy weapon appears on the killfeed, everyone on the battlefield adapts.
A forgegunner can not in the first 120 seconds of gameplay destroy every turret on the battlefield, which is a staggering amount of warpoints by itself. A forgegunner is forced to run with fellow infantry for protection or lurk and prepare ambushes, or a sniping nest.
A forgegunner is forced to rely on weak LAVs for transportation, and will never cause the same level f fear and chaos that an HAV makes simply by rolling around a corner.
Everything is prey to an HAV. |

Well, the same question was asked like this during cb, and the devs replied SOONtm, and gave us what someone would say be worth as advanced level HAV's. But then again, to get to that level, you would need to have a (like now) maxed out HAV. |

I have literally 100% of my SP since the last forced reset in Vehicle related skills. I make money exclusively off of HAVs, and I call them in every map. I've been playing all day, made millions even after losses and only lost a handful of HAVs, one to a forgegun/swarm combo, one to a LAV gank squad of AV protos, and three to other HAVs.
I'm doing okay. |

Really? What server you play on? In every last match, there's at least 3 PROTO AV players going after me by the second minute of the match. |

North America, Skirmish only. It's against my religion to play any other gamemode in a vehicle.
Skirmish is best for HAVs as there are predictable zones of chaos.
EDIT: I should also note that I'm using a Caldari HAV, not Gallente, so I have a significant edge against most forms of AV compared to armor tanks, and I use an ADV Rail so I can keep my EHP optimized. |

I'd like to see them though. Very expensive but incredibly hardy tanks that have current gen Damage out put....cause tanks kill foooties like aint nobody's business, but incredibly good movement and tanking/PGCPU Slot arrangement. |

There's a solution to this: Higher tiered turrets. We're missing faction, officer, and deadspece turrets. |
