GÇ£You should listen to the community, do market research absolutely, but that canGÇÖt be your creative driving force... it canGÇÖt be the spark, it canGÇÖt be the passion. That needs to come from the team.GÇ¥ -Patrick Bach, DICE
Considering they make a game really similar to dust.. i would assume they know what there talking about
but at the same time dust takes things a step further you create your OWN vehicles Your OWN suits
in the future guns ? ammo ? turrets ?
if dust can't prove this speech wrong then i don't know what game can
Thoughts ?

You forget that call of duty holds no long term solution
all it is and ever will be is a game that keeps you going until the next call of duty is released

I think it can survive but it is going to take time. To bring in things that involve the eve universe cannot be done overnight. You don't want to slit the throat of the cash cow that is eve. You also don't want to leave the dusties in the dust. You are bringing in people who know nothing about eve and you are having to go slower than you would like to phase them into the universe. On the other hand you have the hardcore guys who cannot wait and are impatient. I believe we are going to see what direction we are moving in by December. The implementation into the eve universe by dust is going rather slow. It should be slow. For someone who has been playing eve since 06 I can say that it's not going to be an easy road but it will be worth it in the long run. Those of you who play fps just to kick ass without any type of goals as a team in the long run, really will never understand what dust will be. If you look beyond those scrawny matches we play now. You will see something bigger much bigger is on its way. You have no clue how much of an affect you will have on the actual eve game and vise versa. It's being developed before our eyes. Just how and when it is implemented is the big question. I believe in this game. I love the sandbox. I love to accomplish goals with like mined individuals. Teamwork is going to be key. I hope all you newbs take time and familiarize yourself with eveonline.com it will help explain a lot of questions. It's learn or die in eve and its fight as a team or perish in dust.
I wish you all well and good luck fighting for your place in the universe

Dust 514 just achieves something that I haven't gotten from any FPS games that I played. Every bullet shot is done not for my own personal gloats but rather for my Corporation, My Alliance and for my race. Dust provides the suit (no pun intended) that allowed me to sink into their world and really involve myself within it.

I could go on about so many things that I enjoy about this game...but I don't want to ramble. Dust is great. |

The team sees the money Call of Duty makes, then the team wants to make that kind of money. |

Still don't get it do ya....
Go back and read the quote a third time.
The quote is saying that what is most important in making a good game is the creativity of the team of developers, not market research and not community input. |

How the eff do you figure that? When I shoot a bullet it disappears half the time (from what I hear 1.2 has fixed that). How does your corp benefit from you shooting the bullet. Do you mean in PC? Beyond PC there is absolutely no immersion in the game. Well maybe some of it in the corporate/clan epeen but all FPS games got that. |

I'm not sure how you confused my post. I am a representation of my corporation. So I perform to my highest ability for the advancement of my corporation. That's what I meant by "Every bullet shot is done not for my own personal gloats but for my Corporation". I'm expressing who am as a merc in New Eden. I'm not talking about in game mechanics. Context was not to be taken literal.
For you, there is no immersion. For me, there is. Isn't that obvious though? |
