I admit I haven't really played around with the new mods much (will tonight), just have looked at the stats and have done comparisons with previous mods.
So, the new armor plates and shield energizer.
Personally, and I'm sure many agree, the Shield Energizer is broken. No skill requirements and the fact that its penalty is 2, 4 or 6 points off your total shield (tested this with a few suit types) rather than percentages are the two really broken things about this mod. I feel that there needs to be skill requirements (obviously) and the penalty needs to work properly. Shield Flux Coils in EVE are pretty much the same thing as Shield Energizers in Dust; Tech-I gives a 25% bonus to recharge rate and decreases total shields by 15% and the Tech-II has a 30% bonus to recharge rate and decreases total shields by 15%. I think the basic should have similar stats to the Tech-I Coil (+25%/-15%), the Enhanced should have a +35/-20%, and the Complex should have +50%/-25% bonus. (don't forget Tech-II doesn't translate the best to Dust right now)
Reactive Armor Plates...so much wasted potential...they really aren't worth using right now unless you are super-concerned about movement speed (and that may not even matter; forgot to compare that stat enough); Using the equivalent classes of standard plates and reps are better right now. So, how to make them usable? Make the Reactive Plates have the same stats as a standard plate and rep of the next tier down. Example; the Enhanced Reactive would be the same as a basic plate and basic rep. The basic reactive would have lesser stats (25hp and 1hp/s I feel would be good). Movement penalty would also be what the plate component has and CPU/PG would be the same as it is now.
I honestly don't know what to do with the Ferroscale plates. To me, they seem to be intended for Scouts and Shield tankers; people who want a little more hp but also want their speed. I do feel they need a slight buff to the armor hp, but how much I don't know. I do feel that they are rather useless right now; better to use a biotic mod instead.
So...what do you guys think? |

OK, this is just...bad. Trying to play towards the Reactive Plate's strengths by somewhat balancing Armor HP and Armor Repair Rate (well, really trying to maximize repair rate and have some buffer)
Proto Gallente Logistics suit is the base, all modules are the same except for two lows. Only going to list the low-slots as we are discussing Reactive Plates and they only do stuff in the lows.
Suit 1: 2x Enhanced Reactive Plates, 3x Enhanced Armor Repairers
Armor - 278 hp Armor Repair - 17.35 hp/s Walk Speed - 4.53 m/s Sprint Speed - 6.34 m/s
Suit 2: 1x Enhanced Armor Plates, 4x Enhanced Armor Repairers
Armor - 317 hp Armor Repair - 18.80 hp/s Walk Speed - 4.46 m/s Sprint Speed - 6.25m/s
Also to note: Suit 1 uses less CPU, but Suit 2 uses less PG.
So, for a very slight loss in speed, you get more hp and repair rate using old modules rather than the new Reactive Plates.
I still stand by my reasoning the Reactive Plates need a buff |

I haven't found a use for the The reactive plates yet. But the ferro scale plates are great. I re configured all my fits, and got an HP increase and a movement speed increase. I'm seeing way better results than your fits. Here is mine. (Gal Logi,)
Basic tank. -652 HP (548 armor) -4.50 movement. -11.25 reps
2x enhanced plates 2x complex ferrro's 1x complex repper .
Repping fit. -517 HP (417 armor) -4.29 movment -23.75 armor repair.
1x complex plate 1x complex ferro plate. 3x complex reppers.
My tank tank fit. (no complex dmg mods on this one, I use repping nannos, or a buddy with this fit. ) -809 hp (601 armor) -4.58 movement speed. (notice its higher than the other 2 fits, and only down 1.2m from base speed.) -5.0 armor repair.
1x complex plate 1x enhanced plate 1x complex ferro 2x enhanced ferro.
3x enhanced sheild extenders.
These are my AR fits, i have a gek and all the equipment i need to do my logi-ing well. The ferro plates are trash by themselves. But you can stack them with regular plates to reduce the movement penalty.
It is a nice outside the box buff, But with the fix to explosive dmg, Sheilds>armor

How does 2 enhanced plates make you move slower than 1 complex and 1 enhanced ? |

Well, I don't have Proto Plates yet (debating whether to get Proto Plates or Reps next, or something else), so you've got a good boost in armor there...
But yeah, I can actually see uses for the Ferroscale Plates (I feel they're more there for scouts and Minmatar speed-tankers)...just haven't gotten around to testing them yet. I still think, based on the stats, they need a buff. Nothing major, just something to make them worth the CPU/PG they cost (or, lower those values)
Personally, I'd rather have reps than the Ferroscale on my Gal Logi, so I don't have to rely on my rep Logi who's on the other side of the map or respawning, and can regen some armor between firefights (~15 hp/s is good for this I find). Up to about 0.3 m/s in speed I just don't really notice, so the movement penalty doesn't bug me so much. And again...no Proto Plates yet, so things may change a bit when I get them. |
