just went to download the update for dust 514 (patch 1.2), and my first gen ps3 (the one that can play ps1 and ps2 games) and the update is larger than the basic hdd that the system comes with. I wish there had been some sort of heads up about the filesize of the update, because until I get a replacement hdd, I will not be able to play dust 514. (I have cleared pretty much everything I can from my hdd, and still need about 363 mb more space in order to get the full update, currently its only partially patched).
So if you have a small HDD, your S.O.L. from dust for the time being. Also if there is any good that can come from this, CAN THE DEV'S PLEASE POST THE PATCH SIZE (or close approximation to what it might be) SO WE CAN HAVE A HEADS UP BEFORE TIME? so things like this don't happen. Thank you for your time and reading this. |

I have a launch PS3, and I was able to fit it. It's under 3 gigs. You could fit that even on a 20 gb drive. |

It's 2.6GB... your 40GB harddisk is big enough for 2.6GB.
40 is bigger than 2.6.
2.6 <-- the point means it is a decimal, it means 2, and a little more, but not enough for 3. |

The PS3 takes a standard SATA laptop hard drive that's 9mm thick. You can easily fit a 1TB drive in there if you have a 20GB that's full of crap.
Besides that the game as a whole is about 5GB in size so unless you have your HDD full of digital download games and/or videos you should have plenty of room on a 20GB drive. I know because i have a 1st gen PS3 that I use for Dust |

On your PS3 go into the saved game data folder a few items up in the game selection menu and erase some save data from games you no longer play. |

2.6 <-- the point means it is a decimal, it means 2, and a little more, but not enough for 3. the base install file is only 2.6 gb, but after formatting my hard drive, got things squared away. since my dust 514 game file had been around since mordu's private trials, the total file size for dust was around 6 gb. but still after system updates, built in software updates and the like, there isn't a whole lot of spare space on the old hard drive. |

I have the latest gen PS3 w/ 12gb SSD (which I incidentally traded in for to get better performance in Dust).
With only Dust 1.1 installed i have 2.9GB free. Now dust wont let me update, saying i need an additional 2.3GB free space to install.
That doesn't sound right. How big is the total game?
I'm currently deleting the current install and re-downloading. I fear that the install requires spare space to keep the install files almost doubling the actual game size required in free space. |

Ding we have a winner.... if the file is 2 GB you need 4 GB of free space in order for it to install... it has been this way on downloaded content on the ps3 for years if not from the beginning. |
