In the patch notes it says:
GÇ£Manus Peak - fixed the issue where MCC shield would let bullets throughGÇ¥
Does this mean that people in the MCC can shoot out, but the enemy is prevented from returning fire? If so, that seems completely imbalanced and unnecessary. There is plenty of cover in the MCC. There is no need or reason to make people in the MCC invulnerable.
Now if the shields prevented bullets from travelling in either direction I would be ok with that, although I would prefer to have bullets fly freely through the hatch.
Now, this is the incident that made me wonder about this patch note:
I was sniping from the pipe near E in Ashland. E was by the enemy Red zone, with the enemy MCC hovering almost directly over E.
I got hit, so dropped off the girder onto the pipe and crouched. When I got killed in this position I knew that the sniper was higher than I was, so I thought he was on the hills behind E. I respawned at E, and started trying to locate the enemy sniper. A Red trying to hack E interrupted me, and I died to the sniper twice more while defending E and finally killing the hacker. By this time I had figured out that the sniper was in the MCC. Fair enough, if he can shoot me, then I can shoot him, right?
Well I crouched to steady my shot and edged out from behind a girder. Sure enough he was there, sporting the colour and profile of a Dren Assault suit. I got 3 shots off before he got me. Two of which I am absolutely certain were in the centre of his upper torso.
Now, if he survived two chest shots from a sniper riffle because he had fitted proto shield extenders to his standard assault suit, then I donGÇÖt have a problem with it, but if he lived because the MCC shield stopped my bullets, then I most certainly do have a problem with that! I could not say which it was, as his health bar was not displaying, but it made me think of the patch note and wonder.
While MCC sniping itself I think is something that should be discouraged in some way, I had always lumped it is with Red line sniping as a minor irritation. However, if MCC sniping allows you to get kills while being completely invulnerable, then I have a BIG problem with that!
So I would like to get some clarification on this? |
