I dont see a reason why anyone is hyped about 1.2. There are way too many problems at the moment and CCP just throws new "content" out. Currently thsese issues are a plague on this game: -murder taxis -horrible aiming settings -only 2 game modes (NO AMBUSH OMS AND "DOMINATION" ARE BASICALLY THE SAME) -No pve as "greatly" advertised (ive seen it in trailers but where is it?) -framerate issues for every 1 in PC matches that doesnt has a SSD (solid state drive, basically improved hardrive) - imbalanced weapons -SP= grinding=AFK MCC farmers -contact " I WIN" grenades for AUR (no thukkers dont count cause fused locus have 6m blast radius) - new players= gunfodder (due to the stupid high SP gap between newbies and vets) - PC= horrible due to the current way it works out (and i think all corps agree to it)
This game has way too many problems and i honestly dont think that CCP listens to us. Lets face it the only reason why "new content" is beeing added is because due to CCP's contract to sony and thats it. Another thing why couldnt they finally fix the AFK farming problem? I allways see 3-5 guys sitting in the MCC farming SP. I give you Devs and GM's only one advise:
Fix broken stuff first BEFORE you add more stuff which probably will turn out broken aswell. Sure you can stockpile crap more and more but at a certain point people are not going to be interested to see how high the pile of crap has become. |

You have succeeded in posting a list of the common complaints that people have about the game that will not be addressed in this update and I responded to it.
So are we done now? Isn't this what you wanted? People to acknowledge your existence? Because I really don't care that you can copy and paste the titles of every thread on the front page and compare them to the patch notes. Good job with your awesome reading comprehension. More worthless crap is exactly what these forums need. |

Yeah, spending time messing around with the female toons walking animations was a pressing matter the entire playerbase could get behind and support
Inb4 "But the team that does character models doesnt do hit detections" True, but we also have no ladder climbing animations which actually is one of those minor things that could be tweaked that actually does affect everyone, or hell why not go big and model the other 5 suits we are missing Let that sink in, 5 out of 12 basic suits we are missing after more than a year |

I see what you did there. I also see that you forgot to include in your reply:
* Chat channels with more than 50 users (mercenaries or capsuleers) will now operate in delayed chat mode * Improved speed of RDV vehicle delivery as well as applied tweaks to the RDV AI * Improved server to client performance of projectile based weaponry * Characters can now transfer ISK directly between each other and to any corporation * Directors can now transfer ISK from the corporation mercenary wallet to any player or corporation * Added SSAO * Improved lighting & shadows * Improved UI rendering performance * Improved content streaming stability * Improvements to the vehicle icons and driver name tags display * Upward thrust not working when in first person view for dropships * Ground speed limit being ignored has been fixed * Fixed mail list, now player can roll down to bottom of the list to load up to 1500 latest emails * Now the weapon switcher will display the remaining number of deployable equipment * Now the MCC hit point indicator on spawn page will display in correct color, red for enemy and blue for friendly * Unified the font case in several NEOCOM pages * General UI polishing on NECOM pages and HUD * Fixed multiple UI related issues * New material types for ladders and snow * New UI sounds * Moment-to-moment audio improvements * More information on taking hits * 3rd person reload sounds * Memory and CPU optimizations * Fix ducking problem on killing enemies * Fix echo problem in Biomass * An issue where voice was not available for certain very old chat channels has been fixed * Smooth sound of LAVs in the distance * Manus Peak - fixed the issue where MCC shield would let bullets through * Fixed navigation issue regarding movement along vertical covers/walls * Fixed client/server mismatch on equipment deployment locations * Fixed aiming friction on turrets when pitching so it is correctly applied * Improvements to location of fallen character for revive * Fixed slight misalignment with forge gun projectile * Implemented logging out character from NeoCom
And this isn't even the full list of patch notes, these are just fixes. I could've included all of the new content and features, but this thread is talking mostly about core mechanics.
But of course, you had to zero in on one thing and pick it apart. Classic. |

Performance updates are wonderful things, here's hoping they pan out good when it goes live. Fixed aiming friction on turrets... wouldn't get hopes up too high but this may mean gunning on moving vehicles will become far more viable.
Heh, this one: * Upward thrust not working when in first person view for dropships ...is phrased as if it's the deliberate introduction of a bug to dropships instead of a fix. Just mentions the problem.
Improved server to client projectile performance may throw a bone to MD users, will have to see how significant it is.
There is a lot here which could really see things on the up and up. I think we can wait just 1 day to see how it all plays out first before we start ripping it apart. |

Ok you want to talk pressing issues and not just one Lets talk ****** up level geometry Broken hit detection Hell my original post wasnt even zeroing in on a single problem, its pointing out a flaw in your argument about them fixing lots of things the playerbase really cared about when the most pressing issues fell by the wayside and bringing up just one example of a team not working on some actual pressing **** thats within their ability to fix and instead working on some fluff
I said earlier in this thread that this patch was throwing bread to the rioting roman masses, most of the things in this current patch are just that Little tweaks that some people will drop to their knees and fellate CCP for while some serious core game breaking issues just sit there like an infected wound |

-horrible aiming settings This is their priority right now
-only 2 game modes (NO AMBUSH OMS AND "DOMINATION" ARE BASICALLY THE SAME) Gameplay > Content
-No pve as "greatly" advertised (ive seen it in trailers but where is it?) I never saw it advertised. Just because the Devs say they are going to add something later doesn't mean it was advertised
-framerate issues for every 1 in PC matches that doesnt has a SSD (solid state drive, basically improved hardrive) First of all SSDs are a waste of money on Ps3s since the Ps3 cant utilize it fully. The only real improvements you get is a little bit of faster loading times. Does not help the framerate.
- imbalanced weapons They will fix these I assure you
-SP= grinding=AFK MCC farmers Who cares. Let them farm their precious SP.
-contact " I WIN" grenades for AUR (no thukkers dont count cause fused locus have 6m blast radius) I agree that this is stupid
- new players= gunfodder (due to the stupid high SP gap between newbies and vets) They are currently working on a new matchmaking system
- PC= horrible due to the current way it works out (and i think all corps agree to it) I can agree with this but like I said Gameplay > Content

Performance boosts are a big deal, as is bringing the client and server projectile calculations in line. As the 1st 'rapid-fire' update I reckon this might be doing far more than I was expecting. We'll have to wait till tomorrow before we can begin a proper appraisal.
Honestly I'd rate hit detection and the like as secondary to a proper game mode with good map design. I'm happy to hear about Skirmish 3.0 in the works. Could Dust have done with having it half a year ago? Yes. At least we have word of it now, can only hope it's not an underdesigned exercise in mediocrity like 2.0 is. Might very well finally integrate vehicles into the game properly, introduce a greater symbiotic relation between them and infantry.
Edit: Basically I'd rather have a good game that runs poorly than a mediocre one which runs flawlessly. |
