The current tree is anticipated to be maxed out in about 7odd years.
Expect this number to rise considerably throughout the game's lifespan. We have a dozen variants of existing gear to be added, each with their own skills/branches, and new roles/classes wich add even more SP into the tree. |

Afaik the 7 years are based on fastest possible skill gain. Not everyone constantly boosts and caps out and even less are expected to do so 7 years straight.
Edit: Thinking about it. Hardly anyone will do this so i think it would take the vast majority of players more than those ten years if they even manage to reach it at all. |

Not everyone constantly boosts and caps out and even less are expected to do so 7 years straight. Maxing out every week with boosters will take you 13.5 years. EVERY WEEK WITH BOOSTERS > 10 years. How is that reasonable estimate for the average player again? The calculations i saw came to the conclusion that it would take way less than that to max out if boosted. Do you have a link i can look at? I'm too lazy doing the calculations myself right now.

The old closed beta tree took 7 years, our current tree with the weekly SP cap and passive SP takes around 14-28 years I calculated it in a different post. Can i haz link? because this would throw my above edit into the bin and i'd like to know where i went wrong.

Can i haz link? because this would throw my above edit into the bin and i'd like to know where i went wrong.[edit: see his edit] Your using boosters for 8 years, my calculations use no boosters. When adding the passive SP it goes down from 28 to 15, your calculations aren't wrong but most players do not buy boosters, and I doubt the plan to do so for 8 years, this would amount to $1920. Agreed, combined with my rather low estimate of 240m total (seems more like 250-280, currently) this explains the disparity. The reason i assumed boosters for the whole period (and already stressed the fact earlier that this number grows in real application due hardly anyone really boosting through the whole thing) is that i, frankly, expected CCP to assume this aswell.
Now in my opinion this is nothing i have an issue with. I'd rather be disappointed if the skilltree would have been designed to be maxed out by all but the most extreme players at all. I think this design strengthens the value of SP as there is always more SP to be had and to benefit from and the fact that every fit has only a limited number of skills that each cap out at V effectively limit the power gap as it should.
