As a new player I have had to carefully marshall my skill points to increase my basic survivability against infantry..I am still being stomped after weeks of grind. However I am sick of being run over by LAV whilst trying to avoid being oneshotted by snipers hiding behind the redline, and massacred by high skill point, equipped experienced players.
The LAVs' move too fast. Its ridiculous and then I have to struggle to run up a slope yet I see murder taxis climbing vertical slopes running people over whilst absorbing ridiculous amounts of damage...It detracts from the game.
I would dearly like to spec into LAV, tank busting equipment as soon as I've improved my shields,armour,guns,dropsuits etc...I am being hammered by high skilled, specced players that are even more immune when they are in a LAV. I goto militia anti-armour and I have to watch as LAV's outrun my swarm launcher and then I'm totally outclassed against infantry.
Again and again the same people getting 20 kills and 1 death driving these racing tanks.
If I stick this game for a few months longer I might actually enjoy it and be able to kill one of these vehicles instead of being run over and then hearing the noise...
LAVs' should not be able to drive up slopes a billygoat can't climb....They should not be able to outrun missiles...They should not tank damage, they are a light fast transport.
Slow them down CCP, they are ridiculous. I also think it might be a good idea to make them a little noisier so maybe I can hear them before they run me over. That would at least improve the gameplay a little because then I have a slightly better chance of dodging the LAVs whilst running over the huge wide open spaces.LOLOL
I'm trying to stick this game but it is like CCP don't ever play the game or listen to new players' experiences..
I might get flamed for this post but all I see are smaller numbers on the server every time I log in.

Merely slowing them down would not fix the LAV spam problem and it would detract from their actual intended role. |

I'm new here so what are CCP doing about 'LAV' spam? Why can't they slow them down..They move faster than my anti tank missiles.....Very good players are stomping people like me and I have less chance against them than when they are running as assault....It is not right...
I assume their intended role is to get players to the action quickly? They can still do that with a big speed nerf.....They are obscenely quick |

Logi LAVs are meant to take a lot of damage cause they're supposed to support infantry. They've instead become murder taxis because their intended purpose is broken: their infantry rep module is haphazard and its useage rewards the driver no WPs. Let's not be so quick to cry for the nerf hammer, however trading its speed for proper logi mechanics with proper logi incentives would go a long way towards helping diversify gameplay. |

All they need is for their eHP to be reverted. I did perfectly fine with them last build, and my limbus was still hard as hell to take down pre-buff. |

I understand that they support the infantry, however only a tank should be as effective as an LAV actually is in close combat...A tank tanks; a light assault vehicle puts troops into battle as soon as it takes fire it moves....But not at the speed of a rocket whilst running six guys over with impunity.
I am interested in the Logi side of your comment. How would that balance out the use of LAVs into a more realistic and fitting part of this game? At the moment LAVs and redline and MCC snipers are just killing this game for me. |

At this time I am a new, slow, low hp, minimally armed noob roadkill....
Good, skilled, high sp, equipped, experienced players that can kill me very easily now can kill me even easier when in a LAV.
I shoot a tank and all my bullets bounce off it. I expect that and a tank is supposed to be in where it hurts in an assault....I see an LAV early, I put my sights on the 'exposed' driver and give him a large burst and nothing. All the other noobs like myself are shooting and nothing..
If I am able to put my sights on the driver and get a clean burst on him I expect him to take some damage seeing as it is a difficult job to track a fast moving target accurately.
My point is the LAV is exploited for very easy kills by already good players...Am I amongst a few people that think this?
I looked at the link you provided and thought this is a step in the right direction.
Why are CCP so slow to deal with an obvious imbalance? |

50 MPH? 60? 70?
From what your saying, I am assuming that you want the LAVs to be 20 MPH Granny-Carts, Getting Insta-Popped by Everybody and their brother, shooting Newborn Kittens out of the Turret. LAVs need Speed in order to be Survivable.
Them taking Damage from Hitting a Merc would also be a great Balancing factor
After the First few Runs the LAV would try to run away so it can Heal, But since the Infantry, in all their brilliance, Shot the Tires out, and the Driver is Easy Prey to Concentrated Duovalle Fire.
Those 2 Mechanics will Make LAVS able to be Battle Taxis, not Murder-Taxis |

No I do not want the LAV to be a 20mph granny-cart, though the thought of it made me smile.....LAVs should be fast, not racing car fast and tanks should be tough and very durable. Also LAvs should not be able to tear around very steep slopes running multiple people over. My character is sluggish on slopes yet a LAV can gain access to cliffs it has no right to.
The two mechanics of which you speak are interesting and would help...The driver should be damaged due to concentrated fire and the vehicle should be slowed from taking fire.
It is clear that 'murder taxis' are there and being exploited, they are really irritating to a lot of people. They detract from my enjoyment of this game and they are unbalanced.
Hopefully CCP will see these LAV posts and make them more realistic. |
