I think that the devs should come out with a new light drop suit role.....Airborne. These drop suits would be modified light drop suits with a built in wingsuit that would allow players to travel short distances over the map as well as control their fall from a high place (such as the mcc) so that they don't fall straight down, but instead they can fly forwards from the mcc. This would make capturing nulls more frequent and intense. |

Oso Peresoso wrote:I totally thought you were talking about a pilot suit (which i think is going to happen?). Its a pretty awesome idea, but I think it would be much better as a highslot module restricted to scout suits than as a distinct role. Basically I imagine getting a drop uplinks on a building and spawning as a scout and gliding off, maybe with the ability to drop grenades as well. You could activate the wingsuit by selecting it via the weapon-wheel and it causes you to put down your main weapon, at which point the wingsuit automatically activates upon jumping off a building. Also if you try turning too hard you should lose your lift and plummet horribly to the ground (but probably surviving).
I like the idea of it being a piece of equipment or high power module, except the only problem is if u put it on heavies, wich is wear the restrictions come in, so ya +1 |

Zat Earthshatter wrote:This type of mobility would have situational utility, but it would be invaluable if the enemy base was, say, built into the face of a canyon wall with plenty of AA blocking dropship/fighter attack. These dropsuits, attacking such a facility, would skydive from a Heavy Transport or MCC from high altitude, use their small size to avoid turret fire, glide through the canyon at breakneck speed, then plant Drop Uplinks at the end facility to complete the insertion. If we get exotic maps similar to that, then this type of dropsuit would be not only useful, but necessary for Attackers to have a chance. For now, however, they would have limited usability in the open-field facilities we fight on.
In short, I like this suggestion, but understand that this particular plastic shovel doesn't work well in the current sandbox.
EDIT: maybe a "wingsuit" module could be developed that is most effective on Light suits, but Heavies can still use it as a sort of parachute for the purpose of shooting their HMG while falling. This might give Scouts their maneuverability back, and add some refreshing verticality to current DUST gameplay.
True, or if the map had tall buildings, then these would be invaluable |

These would kinda be like a "jump pack" if you are jumping from the ground

For example if the wingsuit became a piece of equipment, it could be a cross between a jet pack and just plain old wingsuit.
E.g. Basic wingsuit has no type of thrust (means you can basically only use it as a sort of parachute for a controlled fall)
Advanced has minimal thrust, so you can fly short distances under your own power
And then Proto has max thrust allowing you to fly large distances (not whole maps of course) |
