TLDR at the end
We need paid for vehicles no matter when called to jump the queue at match start even if this means canceling someones free lav. Calling in a 2 million ISK tank or a 1.5 million ISK dropship requires planning.
1) You have to make sure you are clear of structures so that the RDV does not get stuck or crash 2) You may need to be clear of friendlies who may steal it when it drops 3) You have to ensure you are clear from enemy line of fire so you are not killed waiting for it to drop or while getting in. 4) You need some cover in case the enemy gets a rail in first. 5) Ensuring your squad is close so they don't lose their spot to a blue. 6) Clear the team to avoid RDVs from free LAV delivery destroying your call in.
To meet these criteria requires running to a clear spot of the map, clearing the team, waiting for your squad and checking your surroundings. By the time you have done this loads of free LAVs have been called in and the team vehicle quota filled. See- the free LAV crowed don't worry if it's lost on delivery. they call another or get in someone elses, so they call it in without any care as to it's fate. This means they call in vehicles sooner than real vehicle players and stop us getting our vehicles.
So often you see a free LAV or more sitting at spawn as the guy who called it just got a lift in another that arrived sooner while I sit there waiting or getting a quota filled message.
This is a problem as with drop ships I need to get up and out before an enemy rail or forge gets wind of me. Free LAVs are stopping real vehicle players of all kinds from using the tools of their trade.
TLDR So if a paid for vehicle is called bump it up the delivery queue even if this means Mr free LAV does not get his car. Flash him a message that he has been bumped. He can always get a lift from a proper player. Or better still gid rid of the free LAV, they are a menace on so many fronts. |

+1 very good!
Anyone feeling threatened by this suggestion can simply add/replace one militia module with minimal cost into fit and all is good. But it's no more infinite vehicle spawn mechanic. |

I can support the idea of higher Meta vehicles being given priority over lower Meta vehicles. In fact since the higher the Meta the more likely it is that the Merc calling it has invested heavy SP into it and thus uses that vehicle as a primary role this would support overall game play on more than one front.
The only concern that came to mind, players waiting for vehicles which will now never come, was already addressed in the OP because they'd be notified.
While I'd support a tired system by Meta level as more dynamic/elegant this idea would still be useful even if the only vehicles that could be "bumpped" were militia vehicles.

Not a bad idea, but how about instead of bumping that there was a maximum militia LAV quota(4 would be ok). I know I would miss the message quite a bit(I miss the vehicle request denied message sometimes as it is).
Classifying it as militia LAVs instead of free LAVs means that the Tier 1 promotional LAVs won't be affected. |

I don't think a max cap would be as effective in solving the problems. You'd still have the RDV que lag that, shorter yes but still there. It would also still create the same problem with messages as regardless of the reason Mercs who can't call in a vehicle will have to be informed somehow.
The other benefit of Meta scaling (aside from the tactical value of having the best assets deployed first) is that it would give a bit more value to investing skill point into, and fielding, higher quality vehicles.

There's no reason that we can't have both meta scaling and a militia LAV hard cap. This would still prevent being bumped out of the queue and allow better vehicles to get in faster. |

we do need to remember that all vehicle users playing now started with what they could afford in ISK and skill points. We must not let us 13 million skill point and hundred million ISK rich vehicles users stop them from getting their vehicle and joining our club. It is not fair to put high tier first in all cases, as then the medium vehicle player, who could be very skilled, may not get a chance.
I think pushing very cheap or free fits last would be fair, and all other fall into the mix. OR perhaps take (when we get it) the pilot suit into account. Any vehicle called by a pilot suit gets a bump. The pilot suit is for real vehicle players and may be a way to tell us.... from them. |

what about making it so they literally fall out the sky and there in a red zone that marks the spot on the map where it land. |

I like the RDV mechanic because it shows you where the enemy team is and lets you see what they are bringing. It also alows for a good team to intercept the other teams deliveries. This adds an element of strategy to a game.
For example : When I play with my tank team I get my drop ship in the air and in a position to see the enemy teams drops. I them can tell my squad what dropped and where to go first or what to watch for. This gives us an advantage; an advantage gained through teamwork and tactical thinking. These are things DUST needs to retain. They add depth.
Insta vehicles remove also remove the ability for a good team to pin down another by stopping their vehicles from coming in. So while I hate my DS getting railed while the RDV drops it off, I do like the mechanic. |

what about a built in module that increases the ds's shields by a couple thousand as long as its on the ground this would help in a magnitude of ways including safer pick up and drop off of teammates however this shield would also disable turrets for as long as its active or on the ground. |
