It might sound hard but if you compare them with the Civilian Modules in EVE you will see that they are much less effective than their Standard counterparts. They should not only have higher PG/CPU requirements or less slots but should be actually weaker. Then people would have to spec into something and could not play with Militia over weeks. Militia should be enough for the beginning or if you-¦re broke but not for constant playing. Dropsuits and Vehicles should be slower, have less slots and PG/CPU and have less eHP. Just take the most important stats of the standard item and something about 75%/125% of them should be the stats of the Militia item. To create the current Militia items just some stats were reduced but their equivalent of the items counterparts was not reduced. E.g. Militia Forge Guns have the same damage as the Standard one but Militia Tanks have almost 1000 HP less than the Standard Tanks. There should also be a Milita variant of each item and one Militia version of each specialised Dropsuit. The last should cost about twice as much as the basic Militia suit. This would be the Gallente Scout, Minmatar Logi, Caldari Assault, Amarr Sentinel, Amarr Commando and each other class that gets added. There should only be Militia BPOs of each specialised Dropsuit, Assault Rifle (not the weapon but the class) and Pistol as well as Armor Plates, Repaires, Extenders, Recharger and Locus Grenades. For vehicles should be Boosters too. That-¦s all BPOs that are needed.

Hmm... I dunno. If it were me, I would delete all the Militia items and make all 0 skill items cost AUR. But I'm the type of guy who... if I was running this game. I would probably cause a riot at CCP headquarters and then be crucified by an angry mob of players. I would have no problems busting out a full P2W setup.
So... I'm cool with Militia gear being ok for testing purposes. |

Thats what I meant by AUR items, if you wanna test.. Pay up sucker..
But Militia items are there for testing. I was just never sure why there was never a Militia HMG.. that made me sad.
But once you buy your first Standard Setup, you will realize just how much Militia sucks. Its nice to be able to start fitting good mods and not janky ones. I might like to see the PG/CPU requirements on some items go up alittle more though. make it so you really can't have a fully workable militia only fit. However for just a few AUR you can get this Blueprint suit which will fit a nice setup of militia items |

Without Militia items the early game would kinda suck. Because you wouldn't be able to use any equip at all. |

Yea no kidding, but OP is right. it is definately weird that militia items are basically the same as Standard. The PG/CPU penalities aren't so totally bad, you can get an okish sorta fit.
When I first started, I deleted all the fittings except the Logi fitting, I found that it had the best room and starter gear for a budding young merc. I don't remember the difference now, but it seemed I could cram more stuff on that suit. |

Where would that leave those of us who do not have their desired choice of racial gear to choose from?
You know, us heavies, scouts, and vehicle pilots?
I guess we should absolutely be forced to spec Amarr suits without even a hint of a respec or not play at all? |

Are you saving all your SP? thats pretty cool. +1 to you for sticking to your guns.... literally. Yea I have to. Speccing into a Basic Frame is a lot of SP let alone a Role. I'm not willing to spend it for something I will never use again once my preffered Racial variant is added unless CCP themselves confirms a respec for those associated skills.
So I guess left up to OP the game would be pay to play for me. |

Well, he didn't say P2W, I did.. but I'm a jerk. But then again I wouldn't P2W until I had a finished product that was so awesome you would mug your grandma for the money.
However, you "CAN" lore your way into spending just a little... If you are in the army of an Empire, they would give you at least some training on other suits.

I-¦ll just stay with my Militia tank fitting until Minmatar vehicles arrive and skill into that we have and I-¦ll need then. |

I disagree, I think every weapon should have a militia counterpart. The AUR items are for testing stuff down the line without the investment, but you shouldn't punish players by not allowing them to test out weapons for free. |

I somewhat like the militia items that cost isk, since they give people a change to test stuff, but due to the heavier fitting reqs they're not optimal for daily use.
I don't know if it's the case already, but I would remove any skill bonuses from militia items though, to give standard gear a distinct advantage, both in fitting (due to the Dropsuit Module skills) and in Use (weapon or equipment bonuses). |

Every weapon should have a Militia Variant and I said that in the original post. There only should not be BPO variant of all weapons. If the weapons are too specialised there should not be a BPO. I've seen snipers with Militia Sniper Rifles and Militia BPO Dropsuit. You shoot them but it doesn't matter because they have unlimited stock. That's just stupid. |
