It is inevitable: Either one will acquire salvage through battle that one cannot use with their current skillset or will buy equipment that becomes obsolete as skills improve or the player decides to take a different direction with their character. Just sitting on perfectly good gear can be frustrating, so why couldn't players attempt to sell their assets to other players for cold hard ISK which could be used for useable gear? Admittedly, this would require a lot of infrastructure to be built in the game to facilitate the buying and selling of goods between players. However, it would be appropriate to the universe for players to be more involved in an economy based on winning battles and getting the best stuff to get the job done.
At the very least, I think it would be helpful for corporation members to be able to give gear to their fellow members. Suppose I get a bunch of shotguns as salvage, but I am proficient in Heavy Machine Guns. However, one of my corp members is proficient in shotguns, but is still pretty new so buying shotguns can take up a large chunk of their income. Letting me transfer assets I cannot or do not use to an ally who can utilize that same asset would be especially beneficial to small corporations who operate on small budgets.
True, there may be problems if a player can sell for ISK items bought with Aurum, or gives blueprint weapons to everyone in their corp. Restricting sales and/or transfers to ISK-based equipment and salvage would be a reasonable limitation, though I imagine other players might be able to produce more practical alternatives. |

Player to player ISK transfers are coming in the next update. This is just the first step in opening up the market for Dust players. I don't know when we're getting it, but what you're asking for is somewhere on the roadmap. |
