I ask this because at the moment, it is very obvious at determining the borders of the Outpost and where it connects with the rest of the map as it is a giant square on the overhead map that looks incredibly out of place |

One of the things that I have been talking with our environment team about is that they need to:
  1. Make more interesting and non flat terrain inside the sockets (especially large ones) and, 2. Not flatten the terrain beneath the location of the socket because it defeats the purpose of the terrain blending which ends up causing exactly what you are talking about. Very obvious borders of terrain.

          Hmm...
Say you Put a Outpost on a Mountain, CCP, why not have Struts coming out of the Bottom of the Outpost as to hold it up?
the Foundation that the Outpost Buildings are Sitting on could be 5-10 Meters thick, so it doesn't look like a little Sheet of paper is holding up the Outpost.
It could also be the base for Gas Giant Maps.....
I has Smarticles hidden somewhere in my Noggin, see? |

I remember i once scrolled through the entire map (can't remember now which) in respawn point selection view. And there was a valley with entrances/buildings attached to the cliff side. Of course it was in the red zone. It looked "man-made", but not totally "out of place". Will we ever be able to roam freely an entire maps? |

16 people roaming around in 5 by 5 kilometer map would be boring. |
