ok, so first off this game lacks any real engineer class, we got repair beams but that's only part of what an engineer is really supposed to be good at.
i'll just rapid fire some ideas about what an engineer role could and should be able to do on the battle field.
first let's start by saying what if we could destroy the null cannons in a skirmish or maybe have a bunker door that could be destroyed, and engineer role could then repair those to get them back up to full functionality.
how about when a vehicle dies for either team the engineer could then repair the scrap within 30 or 40 seconds to bring it back to life similar to how medics can bring people back to life, if it's enemy scrap you'd of just earned your team a tank, same for a turret placements.
they could have the fastest hack time of any suit in the game.
they could have large bonuses to vehicle and turret repair rates.
maybe have a build tool to setup placements and installations like the turrets.
I was mostly picturing tribes, I was an engineer class in that game, I spent all my time putting down force fields to protect our generators putting teleporter relays in for quick movement around the battlefield, extra radar stations for more battlefield awareness, etc, but more then anything I moved around the battlefield keeping this stuff operating.
it's a useful role that has it's place on a battlefield, and for the most part would just be an alt role for the logistics like the commando is for the heavy. |

I would love this suit because it focuses more on Team-Support rather than N00B hunting.
One discussion point though is the % bump to skills and how codebreakers and other equipment could be stacked to overpower a certain attribute - just a thought. |

ya being able to put down infastructure on the battlefield would change the game a lot.
imagine being able to build a micro-warp station that allows you to move to any other micro warp on the battle field for quickly getting around the battle field.
how about simple force field generators, that force players to break the shields down before they can pass, and once inside they might prioritize destroying the generator before the shields come back up, rather then just walking up and taking the points.
simple things like these can make the battlefield an interesting place, not everything really needs to be about the biggest gun, sometimes the utility is as useful as the guns. |

Do we need this? I thought the Logi was the engineer. He repairs, rearms and ressurects his team. Maybe add some shield transfer and a few other tricks.
1. I think Scout should be the fast hacker and capper. Why else would you want to be lightly armored then mobility?
2. I agree, you should be able to put modules which effect equipment, so you can be a super repair guy.
3. Ressurecting vehicles sounds broke and leaves room for abuse, because you could summon cars up to the vehicle cap, blow them up and then summon more and ressurect the broken ones. But if you couldn't ressurect if at the cap, then people would just complain because all the LAVs using all the cap. I'm not sure about balance if you could ressurect a next gen 3M battle tank when they put them out.
4. Anyone can get on the radio and call down a installation, or should be able to. Logistics can definately get a bonus, that sounds cool.
5. generators, shield fields, cloaking fields, yea all cool. |

1 - scouts are supposed to be a recon unit, yes they should be able to hack, but I see no reason why they should be the fastest hacker, even now the logis are faster hackers then them.
3- well first this would be a hack style effect, so you would be vulnerable while you are repairing the vehicle, you'd likely need squad support or help to pull it off. next the scrap would be vulnerable just like a corpse is, if either team does not want it brought back they just need to shoot the scrap some more to make it disappear. and since both teams could bring the scrap back from either team I don't see it causing an imbalance.
as for abusing the feature to bring in extra, just simply have the scrap still count against you until repaired by the either team, or it disappears passively.
4 - calling down infrastructure was indeed the original design, but I see no reason to limit it to that, I mean how can we have interior battles if everything needs to fall from the sky, i'd honestly rather have a module that allows me to place things, rather then force everything to fall from the sky, it would also give me far more control. by all means still allow people to call things in, but "method A" of deploying things doesn't need to be the same as "method B". |
