We have shield suits and armor suits. As well as varied high/low slots and CPU and PG that limit certain suits to what they can run. And a buttload of side grades that effect shields and armor health, rep rates, damage mods etc.
It seems they are going at it by using more EvE logic rather than excepting its an FPS. And if this was more of a real time point an click turn based game like EvE this game would probably be better off with less complaints etc. In EvE, there are ships and equipment setups that are just better than everything else in its class/role. DUST is pretty much like EvE is right now, run the best and most powerful thing you can as long as you can afford it.
Balancing EvE is different than an FPS. FPS's have alot more variables that cant be solved with a spread sheet, the weapon is only as good as the user so a good player with a good gun will obviously do well. Or a bad player with a good gun will probably just limp along. Im not saying EvE doesnt take any skill, but majority of it is just knowing what does what and can you tank it.
Imo, there either needs to be more variables affecting suits/guns or less variables (basically streamline the game and make it a generic shooter where every gun is pretty much the same).
Current "OP" is the flay. Why is it op? It destroys armor at the speed of "lol" and now everyone apparently is using it. Why does armor suck? Because armor isnt like the shields. So the Flay will most likely be nerf hammered into the dirt with a decrease in blast radius, damage, and range and then everyone will complain for a respec because its deemed useless.
You could just like, NOT make the missile travel in a straight path all the time, why not make them curve in random directions or serpentine like bottle rockets do.
Why not have bullet physics in the game and re write the lore of the weapons so people wont use it against you (the weapons are severely underwhelming when you keep their description in mind). 80GJ cannon? Pretty much every time you fire that thing, anywhere it hits there needs to be a huge explosion and anything within like 200 meters is dead or severely damaged. |

This is why CCP needs to balance off the pros, not the whiney noobs who make 1000's of posts calling for various nerfs. |
