So I am playing on an alt. I see you graduate at 10k war points or 1m sp. One of the other. I go into my first few games and I am gettin eaten up alive. CCP, even as a seasoned player(open beta) I believe that you guys should increase the time a player is in The Academy by another 10k wp or another few hundred thousand SP. Whichever it is. It is only fair to the new players. They can still go in and still be ill equipped to handle the veterans, the ones with 15m sp etc. I am just standing up for the new players and what they should deserve. Not to go in and get beat up right away. They need more time. More time to develop their characters into something that can be more prepared to handle these battles. |

If there are no matchmaking improvements I would agree. I've seen a number of other good ideas as well.
I personally wanted to see a new matchmaking where players could compete for higher rewards. Like 200 isk/WP vs 100 isk/wp vs 50isk/wp. That will attract veterans into the 200isk matches and newbies into the 50isk matches. So there are no gear restrictions or penalities to anyone, the community would segregate itself. And it makes sense lore wise that the pay would be different for different types of missions.
[Edit]: Or if Isk is only going to be determined by gear destruction, have different percentage returns based on the value of the match. This can also have SP influence as well, to attack veterans into the higher SP matches, and if newbies want the full thrill they can still just register for the more dangerous missions. |

Giving a player an option of what level to play at will definitely increase server load and can bring back older players who did not play much. This means players who do not play much who are not that skilled at fps, but still love to play them, can have an enjoyable experience. While a veteran can have a challenge and increase their skill and wallet.
Either that or there could be a system that can limit the tiers a player can use in certain matches. This still allows a veteran player to go in and play with others, including friends who may have just started playing etc. |

I never liked the idea of limiting someone, we should always push people to the maximum. When I play games I love going against pros, I love the extreme difficulty because its the only way I learn to play the game. Getting my face kicked in is fun because I have more joy when I overcome, this is why I like Dark Souls.
If a veteran wants to join a 50isk/wp match, then let them. They aren't getting the maximum skill points, they are limiting themselves, and those newbies in the 50isk/wp matchs will be able to see what a veteran can do. Just having 1 or two veterans join will not totally upset the game. The real problem with the current matchmaking is when there are so many protobears running around, all a newbie can do is die horribly while getting a kill or two.
[Edit]: Well actually the real problem is teams of protobears, but there shouldn't be teams of protobears in 50isk/wp matches because the money isn't there. |

Just as an idea. It can be a choice. It can be a setting, especially if they ever allow custom games to be set up. I would not be surprised if something like this does ever happen if they give players the option to create their own games. But along the lines of it, it helps create a balance too if that is what someone is looking for. It gives balance and lets players play on pure skill alone. But that is also what having levels of game play to choose from can do as well. So I can definitely agree with that idea. |

I don't think there will be custom game setups other then PC, but CCP has said there will be an Arena. Not sure how the matchmaking will work for that, maybe an arena rating? Which will definately help newer players and corps. |

an arena would definitely appease the veterans and the ones who want to compete for bragging rights for sure. I do not see it as a viable tool for the game itself. Maybe it is something someone can opt into at a later point in the game or something like that. |
