All my sp is specced into shield tanks and this is just horrible. The story:
I got my respec the 24th of May and skilled into shield tanks, not knowing how bad they were, playing and playing my tanks would just die so easily. The name glass cannon appeared on the forums.
I wish my respec came on the 24th of June so that I would of known about shield tanks and would of never specced into them. I tell ccp all of this and they say sorry.
Basically they are telling me: (not from their own words) " The glass cannons will be balanced soonGäó and you just have to wait it out in a machine that is slower than a heavy. "
Is it that hard to respec the couple of people who made the mistake of going into shield tanks? What is that, about 10?
I know a lot of people will disagree saying you need to spend your points wisely, but on the 24th of May, not much knowledge was known about shield tanks, compared to the people who got their respecs June 24th, people who know not to skill into shield tanks due to reading stuff about it being bad ( lets say june 7th for the stories sake )
I don't expect much signatures, i'd just like CCP to look at this and tell me what they are going to do.

average shoots to kill a armor HAV during its rep cycle 7-9
---------------------to kill a shield HAV during it rep cycle 6-8

Shield tanks survive longer than armored tanks and if a Wiyromki swarm launcher hit my shield tank, i'd have to go back, if an armor tank got hit by it, it might try and kill it, taking a couple more shots, then retreating. If CCP doesn't want to respec the shield tankers, they need to fix these tanks FAST as people who have played this game for awhile now don't want to lost a chunk out of their wallet per match. |

Why did you specced into tanks in the first place? So far they have beeing useless in most PC matches. The use for a tank right now is to sit on his closest objective in skirmish and try to defend a position. Which he cant as soon a guy with proto swarms makes him running away. |

I spec into shield tanks and I don't regret it at all. My only real weakness are forge guns and rail tanks, which if you keep moving and have a good situational awareness of your surrounding can help with your survivavility. I also have 2 fits for my shield tank, a missile for close infantry support, not to mention I can tear any armor tanks to pieces, and rail tank, meant for long range engagement and good against other shield tanks. |

I wouldn't know, there were no good posts saying how bad shield tanks were that I saw on the 24th, I researched hard and long to find which was better: armor or shields, couldn't find anything, I went with shields because I went shield lavs in chromosome.
I regret going shield tanks. |

I agree with this, shield tanks are in a terrible state, its most noticable in 1v1s against Armour tanks, and for the people that say "You dont have to worry about Swarms" true, but Shield tanks are so damn slow, that its hard to escape Swarms, especially considering that every weapon that is effective against shields have the fastest projectile speed (Blasters, Rails .etc)
Buff Shield Boosters, make them work like Armour Boosters, that is how you fix the Shield tank, its that simple. |

Shield tanking is not the complete fail it is projected to be . Yes it has its faults it needs more tweeking I do agree with that. But I said I think to yourself to drop me a message in game and ill try to get online and help you out with fits and survivability tactics/fits. I can also run madrugers but I only use them when im faceing another seasond tanker. 90% of the pub games I run gunlogi or falchion especially when I have a squad to work allong side and thats when you see shield tanks in their element.
I have a list for you to look at
Pros cons of shield tanking
Pros
1) better natural resistance from the most common av wepons. (Swarms av nades )
2) better resistance against missile turrets .
2) has passive regen of your ehp I.e. your shields (most shield tanks that reach armour dammage are dead)
3) best for fitting large missile turrets (my personal favorite)
4) adding ehp (shield extenders) dose not apply any movement penalty.
5) can apply dammage mods and not affect your tank too much. (Not so much now with the pg nerf) but good tankes can.
6) easyer to fit rails with out effecting your hp too much.
Cons
1) recives more dammage from hybryd and energy based wepons- forges rails blasters flux nades and plasma cannons
2) has lower base speed than a madruger even with 120 polycrystalin plates
3) weak shield boosters do les hp per secon return than armour reps equating to about 1/3 of the equivalent armour repair mod
4) less efective hardners than their armour equivalent .
5) has next to no luxuary mod slotts (espesially true after the pg nerf)
6) not viable in pc as shield tanks most of the time will loose to proto av or armour tanks.
Im sure there is more pros and cons but thats just a few. Personally I love my gunlogi and falchiones but I am good at shield tanking and fitting shield tanks . |

Keyboard & Mouse users who are shield tankers move faster than DS3/PRO controllers. I forget the reason why, something about turning speed and stuff  |
