Forge gun is a monster, but requires practice, intuition, and damn good aim to use to its full potential.
The HMG is for diehards only at this point, honestly. If you love it enough to make it work you can still murder with it. But it requires a lot of SP, and the AR is easier and effective in more situations.
There is also the heavy commando suit to think about, which can't use heavy weapons but can carry two light weapons. |

HMG is pretty good in close quarters. I like a breach scrambler pistol for a sidearm.
Forge gun is the like the fist of Stalin. Up your ass. |

Is this a trick question? Ones anti-vehicle the other is a trashy anti-infantry - both server different roles. Rarely will you see a FG not on a roof doing well or in a LAV |

There were two tanks on your team hooc. How could the randoms possibly have had more sp. Have you been protostomped so much that you can't even tell when you're being carried along by one? |

When all else fails, point to that one time, at band camp, when you went 40-1 using only militia gear against 2 full proto wearing squads with the remaining 4 players in their own squad running tanks. |

You have more SP then me.....did i kill you?
Anyway I was solo and i saw familiar corp names.
Anonymous, GIANT, Red Star
Also those randoms took all 5 objectives at one point...and when i shot them they all seemed to have a crap load more health and did not look like militia gear to me.
Also i had the highest number of kills on both teams...were those proto stompers sooooo good that they lined up the kills for me and not for themselves? That would be a cool trick. |

This literally just happened before i posted....ask Dengru he was there he can confirm the time line.
Someone was saying Heavies HMG was unusable...i had just had an experience that said otherwise. |

Forge guns are primarly described as Anti-Vehicle weapons. They can be fun for sniping red dots from an elevated position, or taking out vehicles all shapes and sizes. Has a 300m range, excellent direct damage (will 1 shot any infantry with direct hit) and good splash damage (usually enough to 2-shot most suits). I prefer the assault variant (requires lvl 3 Forge Gun Operation) as it does more damage, charges up faster, but does not allow for the charge to be held. As mentioned before it is a weapon that takes timing and practice to master.
Heavy machine guns are anti-infantry. They come in 3 variations, Standard and Assault (available at lvl 1 HMG Operation) and Burst (available at lvl 3 HMG Operation). The assault variations do less damage, but have a 10m longer range compared to standard. The burst variations also have lower base damage compared to standard, but have double the rate of fire and are deadly. Dont let the stats fool you, 2000rpm vs 4000rpm is a huge difference. But the burst variatn requires a bit more skill to use especially in close quarters combat, and it will overheat very fast after about 4-5 bursts in a row..
After you have a chance to practice with all 3 types you will see how the burst is much different. I prefer the assault variations on most maps as engagments generally happen at medium range these days.
Hope this helps. |

Yes the Duvolle is a prototype weapon and the cost is quite high.
The Basic lvl 1 HMG and/or Forge Gun arent that expensive. You should be able to put together a nice Militia/Basic suit for around 10k isk or less. Even if you bumped that up to 20k isk per suit and play cautiously you will still be able to make a solid profit. |
