I really think some things on the scouts and knives needs to be changed. Nothing has been more aggravating than stalking somebody at full sprint and being unable to stab them until they stop moving. Even if you catch up, you still cannot get a charged knife slash on them, because the moment you charge, you have to start walking. By the time the charge is full, the target is already out of range! Or even more aggravating, you can stalk somebody, sprinting behind them when some blueberry starts pinging shots at them. They immediately backpedal and all of the sudden you are in front of them with your back facing them. Not a happy ending for me.
That is why I propose a change to the scout suit or knives. I just want one of the following:
A.) Buff the movement speed on the scout (not sprint). Or at least nerf everybodys backward movement speed. On more than one occasion, you can surprise an enemy from in front within 2-3 meters. You charge the knife and move in, but they walk backwards only slightly slower than you can walk forwards, all the while spraying AR into you. Ends badly 90% of the time.
B.) Make the knives do full damage on instant swipe, and have a cool down instead of a charge up. Allows you to sprint up to an enemy, deal the damage, and leave. Cool down would equal charge up time, and this way it only favors the knives by allowing full damage at an instant, yet being helpless for the next second (or less with Ishnoks).
C.) Charge while sprinting. I still think B is a better option. Minimal change and probably easier to code than charging and sprinting.

what about when a nova knife is equipped and you hit the default melee buten instead hitting them with the butt of your rifle but the with a nova knife instead? |

You can already do that. It only deals your standard melee damage though, and an adv or proto knife still does more damage on a quick slash than your standard melee.
Not what I am worried about, unless you are wanting the best of both worlds (i.e charge up the attack with no cooldown (R1), or melee with full damage WITH a cooldown (R3).
While I like the idea, it may prove to be OP to some people, and I just want a change to make them more useful. |

You need complex kin cats and endurance mods in your low slots for this to work, ss well as lv 5 minja scout skill. It also helps to only use IshNoks. Seidearms dam mods are nice too!
My advice (FYI this is from the perspective of a minja suit and would love to hear someone's take on a ganja scout), do not slash at them as they are running. run behind them until they exhaust their stamina. Run close to them and pay attention to where they are likely to turn and face. For example, if there is a battle going on to the left as you follow, stay towards the right so if they turn you will see them doing it and can adjust before you hit their peripheral vision, which is severely gimped in this game.
Once they slow down they can't jump or run from you. Your movement walk speed will eclipse theirs, and if you did it right, you will be very close to them with stamina left over. walk sideways and and charge slash their side as you begin to pass. So if they are turing left walk sideways past them and charge slash. This way you will definitely hit them, and they won't know until it is too late. and you can follow up slash him down if it is a heavy.
now, if they catch on to you, you should have more stamina to jump and spin so you land at their side facing them. This is important, tricky, but it makes it very hard for them to track and shoot you, You need to charge when you are in the air so when you land you hit them. Most times it will turn them into a blood burst, but if they are still hanging on, they still have to turn to face you. If you did it right, you should have them directly in front of you ready to follow up slash them down. The above tactic is good for jumping into a group of enemies as well. slash fest
And if all that doesn't work, ditch the knives. bust out your sidearm of choice and go to town on them as you orbit. Too many times, people stick to swinging with their knives. you blew it, accept it, and go to guns. if there are multiple enemies, try putting one guy in front of you as cover. And good luck. it's an honorable death

Thanks for the advice. I also run a minja scout (only at ADV though, I only have 2.9 mil SP), and some of your advice has occurred to me when I thought about it (such as the SMG becoming a true sidearm, the OH SH** moment gun to either finish them off or injure enough to convince them that they shouldn't chase you as you run). It seems like some of the advice will just take practice to perfect, but thats okay, I can learn.
I still think that if they can't find a way to let us sprint/charge, that solution B would be a viable option.
I have noticed that you post in Scout posts a lot. Would love to play with you and learn more. Do you have a mic? |

If anyone wants to object to this, realize that you're about to complain about a knife being used in a gunfight. |

Risk/Reward Return
If I sprint behind someone and get within 1m of their backside, I should be able to stab them at full sprint when I am faster than them. This isn't happening. This should be fixed. |

I get a chuckle every time I knife some poor sucker who turns a corner too fast. Or when they have terrible situational awareness Or when they back themselves into a wall.
