all vehicles have a hefty buffer tank compared to the average dropsuit. this is partly why people use them . do as much damage as you can then at the last moment before it blows you jump out/recover it and then take out some more people as you are still at full ehp.
i did a match yesterday. i took out 5-6 dropships and around 4-5 tanks. they were all mostly merc vehicles from the packs. i left the match with zero kills, zero assists. but i did i think around 50k+ damage. the reason i got no kills was the fact that at the last possible moment the pilot/driver ejected and in some occasions managed to recall the vehicle before it was destroyed. then they either ran off and called a new one or killed me which is fair enougth.
the thing that bothers me is that there is no weapon out there that can insta kill a vehicle with 1 shot besides the forge against un modded lav's. so the player can just eject as soon as he takes damage. meanwhile the person trying to take it out is likely to be a target as his weapons are very visable when used and most builds lack other forms of effective dps against a full dps player.
now while i see this as a problem i DO NOT think vehicles should be nerfed or AT to be buffed or even locking people into their vehicles. if anything the opposite could happen. what i would prefer to see is damage bleeding across to the driver stopping at a percentage of hp to be determined by ccp. the new pilot suits could offer a reduced bleed through bonus to actually promote people to use the combination. with the bleed damage comes assists and gives AT players a reason to get close for some small arms combat with the pilot/driver
if your a driver in a pilot suit then your doing your job and nothing really changes. if your using something as a taxi then you have some slight consequence to that act. if you have people whoring on your kills in your tank.. just drive towards the enemy and as soon as they start taking damage inside your vehicle they will jump out.
i think this could be a nice fix to some of the main gripes with vehicles. if used as intended then there is little to no change. if not then suffer the consiquences.
once you get us down to a certain % of our armor, the vehicle starts to catch fire and our remaining HP begins to drain. also, you can already kill the turret operators, just slam the front turret into something hard enough to kill him same with the top turret.
no to another weapon one shotting us to pieces, we already have 100+ things to worry about in battle that can kill us.
