I've tried my hand at blaster and railgun tanks, and though both are pretty fun, I really want to try missile tanks. However, I am rather new, and have heard again and again that missile turrets got nerfed to hell after people complained about their splash damage. I tend to find myself straying from the center of action to flank, or at least smack the enemy from an advantageous angle while in a tank, so missile turrets seem like a fine choice. Also, I'm not sure if I should use Caldari tanks for shields, or Gallente for armor.
I don't mind creating a new character for better skill point distribution, if that is deemed necessary. You forumer's seem like an honest/blunt bunch, so let me know what you think. |

Mind you, SP is never truly wasted. Even if large missiles aren't performing as well as other turrets right now (and I actually lack the expertise to say if that is true) there will come a day when they are fixed. So if you want to try missiles, go ahead and train up missiles. The worst case scenario is you don't like them and switch back to blasters or rails until some balance change makes missiles seem more appealing. |

My main worry is that, in regular matches, there is always someone with a forge gun or railgun tank, and that if I spend too much on my tank, that I'll keep losing them. And until they let us transfer ISK between mercs/from EVE characters, I'll earn maybe enough ISK in a single match to replace a lost tank. |

Every turret has its purpose... ill break it down
Blasters = Do more damage to shields then armor... Every effective against infantry
Rail = Do more damage to Shields then Armor... Every effective against Vehicles
Missles = Do more damage to Armor then Shields.... Frags work well against Infantry, Accel work well for ranged and anti air, Cycled (when CCP fixes the proto verson) work well against tanks
They all have their role and work very well.. As a tanker you should have both turrets
I myself drive Shield tanks
From my views i feel as tho Shield tanks work better against Infantry... Armor against Vehicles
again thats my opinion |

This. If you're wanting to drive a missle tank, I'm gonna say anti-vehicle (read anti-lav) is gonna be your main source of WP. You can still blow infantry to tiny pieces if you have good aim.

Sounds awesome, I'll probably do so on a new character, though. Got an empty slot. |

Missile turrets were pretty fun in the closed beta when tanks were dancing everywhere :D |
