Since I discovered that logi LAVs suck at being logis, I decided to put SP into scout LAVs instead- they're highly underrated. While I admit it's strange that it has the same basic stats as a militia LAV, the lack of eHP isn't a big deal.
My first impression of it was driving solo- I don't know what it is, but it just feels so much better to drive than regular LAVs. I know it has an acceleration increase (great on hills) but there's something else; perhaps it's quieter? Regardless, it's very enjoyable to drive.
The real experience is when we got 3 people from my corp and decided to try out what it's meant for- hit and run attacks. I had fit the Abron (armor scout LAV) with an advanced blaster, resistance plates, armor rep, and damage control unit. We would drive through an area full of reds at slow-ish shooting speed, then the passenger would jump out and combine fire with the gunner. I didn't get many vehicle kill assists from driving (Vehicle WP needs to be addressed), but the passenger and gunner were doing well. When we had an AVer after us, we could quickly escape, loop back around, then drop off the passenger to deal with the AV (He also died a lot, but we could pick him up later). Overall, the LAV did its intended job very well.
Despite this, I still think it needs something to separate itself from standard LAVs- the scout LAV skill should have +2% turret damage per level, along with the current tracking speed and acceleration increases. Also, assists in LAVs and dropships should work differently for the driver. If the gunner gets a kill, the driver should also get +50. If the gunner gets an assist (assists from the driver don't count), the driver should also get +25.
That's all I have to say for now. Remember: use something the way the description tells you to use it before saying it's extremely UP |

I have the ishkune saga with dual jovians on it... I wonder how they compare?
What's your load out?
I was going to try and check out the scoutVs but it seems like my BPO is better, and free-ish with 0 SP investment.

btw- I do the same thing with just one squad mate. It would be cool if the passenger could fire from the car. it makes no sense that they can't.
We pester tanks a lot too. It's fun to drive right past them.. it usually distracts them and helps out the person taking punishment. And their turrets can't match my orbiting speed. If terrain wasn't so wack making you stop, get stuck, and roll.. we'd just drive circles around tanks and blow them up while they tried to find us. but as it is, one little bump will stop you cold, flip you, etc so we abandoned doing that. more often than not we'd hit a small bump and bounce ever so slowly into a slow motion roll and the tank had its way with us.
we kill lots of snipers with my man on turret and me jumping out and rushing them with knives. it must be nuts to have this beast car run up on you with cyclic missile fire blasting you and a minja flying through it all slashing like a fiend.

Well, you'll probably be at a loss for slots, PG, and CPU with dual jovians. By the looks of it, my abron will easily be able to fit a prototype blaster, and some better upgrades.
Current fit-
Abron 20gj Stabilized Neutron Blaster Light IG-L Polarized Armor Regenerator Energized Nanite Plating Militia Damage Control Unit
Obviously, there's tons of room for improvement. |
