thats the thing. shield tankers depend on NO ONE. but armor tankers to be effective need logibros.... thats alittle unbalanced.
but i think the whole mechanic of logis needs a fix, within a 20m radius of enemies the logi should get cyclic points for holding a rep tool on teammates (ie.e every 3seconds 5points, etc) whether shots are fired or not.
outside 20m logis should have the current system where only when damage taken does the logi get triage oints.
this way armor can be buffed to self suffiecience but the logi can still earn points. and i wont be broken by people abusing the system because for the cyclic point system to be in place the logi must be reping the dude close to the enemy.
(if you agree, do you feel the logi should get the cyclic system compounded with the points per health restored in close range?) (if you dnt agree sugest soething else. criticizm without alternatives is strictly prohibited.) |

The idea is good but I like the current system as it is. I already get lots of points today and would easily end up number one in every match if I would get even more triage points.
You should equip something different than the rep tool If you are a caldari scout running with caldari assults. I am Gallente and stick close to other Gallente clones as they have much more need of the rep tool.
The Caldari already have the advantage of their shields, no reason to provide them with more easy WP points. Leave the triage and guardian points to us armor tanking clones. The Gallente clones will get me as backup, protection and ammo supply, I will leave the Caldari running off alone. |

Logis get enough WPs as is. Drop some uplinks and triage nanohives AND shoot people, then you should get more than enough WPs to top the scoreboards
If you are running around with a rep-tool 23/7 you are doing something wrong in my opinion. Logi in DUST is not like the medic in TF2 and babysitting Heavies all the time is a waste of potential. |

I liked the system we had, but that was when Heavies had lots of armor and little shields, now it just seems they have tons of shields. If heavies were straight up armor again, I would like the Rep Tool balance we have. Logis and Heavies, a match that was made in heaven. |

How does getting points have to do with Logi dependence?
Giving armor suits a passive armor regen should suffice. |

I run Amarr Logistics with plenty of self rep from skills, modules and proto triage hives ... it's pretty annoying when someone sees me in Amarr suit a holds a rep tool on my back, even when I have full armor AND shield, rather than assisting with the firefight.
Put the rep tool down, stand in the bubble and shoot back. |

the sad part if you go to any heavy thread, most peoples excuse for the poor condition of the heavy and its inability to be effectual, is that it doesnt have a Logi with him. but according to what you've just said (which is 100%, and is perfectly fine), means that even following heavies around to help them is not a real help. lol |

im saying if Armor was balanced against shield so that both an armor tanker and shield tanker would be selfsufficient, then the need for a logi would be diminished with regards to the repair tool, and people with proto rep tools need justice when this happens.
if they got WP just for reping them within the 20m of the enemy then even with an ally who isnt injured a logi can still earn tons of points. and of course do to the enemies proximity engagements will happen regardless.

I still maintain that the proper way to balance Armor and Shields is via eHP not raw HP.
Armor should have a great deal more buffer/raw HP along with it's attendant drawbacks to speed. Shields have built in self rep and no speed drawbacks so a much lower raw HP but with native reps a comparable eHP can be maintained.
Now that we have Shields and Armor balanced we can look at Armor + Logi... woah that suddenly makes the Armor tanker way more powerful than the shield tanker which is just as it should be since Armor tank + Logi takes 2 Mercs.
Any defensive value of Armor + Logi has to provide a high enough eHP to compensate for taking a gun out of the fight and requiring coordination between the tanker and the logi, while a shield tank is completely self sufficient.
For those armor tankers who want more self sufficiency but less HP and are in suits not ideal for going shield there's still the use of native reps but this should really be kept lessor than the native shield reps to maintain diversity.

ps ~ I realize this is not a direct address to the OP but based on my perception of needed armor tank balance the context of the OP would not apply.

It actually works out very good if it is a smart heavy and you as logi are wielding the focus core rep tool with 100hp regen. I have paired up with several heavies that understand that 100hp does not make them invincible but will keep them alive longer while under fire. Find a heavy that does not wander out into the open out tries to go full speed ahead into a larger group of reddots alone. I allways pair up with the heavies I find untill they start their little rambo trip and leaves the group to charge ahead alone, that is when I decided pairing up with Gallente assaults is a better option. |
