Instead of using smoke it actually deploys a 'cloud' of nanites. This cloud of nanites keeps you obscured, even the indicators over your head is gone. Also, if you are hacking an objective, the objective's symbol will disappear from the enemies HUD.
Here are the twists!
GÇó These nanites are programmed to only block indicator signals for your enemies. You and your teammates will still be able to see enemy indicators while in the cloud.
GÇó The grenade after deploying the nanites, acts like a movie projector. It displays a bright light that is absorbed by the nanites (giving the could a 'sparkling' appearance), though, the light is reflected outwards from the cloud. This makes it slightly easier to see out of the cloud, though, nearly impossible to look in.

What about angry nanite clouds that attack either shields or armour if you walk into the cloud?
I like the idea of nanite clouds as smoke though. |

These would be a neat little area suppression weapon. Like gas grenades in MAG. |

This is still a smoke grenade; you can't see through it if you are outside of it. So it would conceal you. |

Reminds me of an ability some mobs would use in SWTOR: they would throw down a grenade, and a ton of fake holographic images of the thrower would show up around them, obscuring the user
