Rename it to "Blaster Rifle".
It was fine calling it assault rifle when it was the only one, but we're going to get racial variants SoonGäó.
We already have the scrambler rifle, that's one. |

Why do we need to change the names now..? They all seem distinguishable to me. Is it just cause there are assault rifles in other games?

just suggested this in your other thread :)
I think it would sort things out and get players to use all the other types of assault rifles. Just seeing one type named the "Assault Rifle" gives it that generic, all around, good for everything feeling. Something like this would probably lead to more weapon diversity among players. |

once all the racial variants are in i believe the Assault Rifle as it is will no longer dominate the game. Sure, most players may use the AR, but it's an all purpose weapon...a jack of all trades, but a master of none. I think this is how the AR should really be. That way, the racial variants wont just be niche weapons, but good at only one thing.
Much like the Breach AR or the Tactical AR. One does high damage with a low rof, and the same range as the basic AR, and the other does high damage with much more range than the basic AR, making them kinda like specialist weapons or something. |

The thing about the Gallente Assault rifles is that it bothers me that they don't shoot globs of plasma and instead look like they are shooting bullets.
The Minmitar Combat Rifle and the Caldari Rail Rifle should fire bullets while the Scrambler Rifle fire laser bolts, and the AR should shoot globs of plasma. |

It also opens up more room for variants (believe it or not)
The tactical assault rifle was originally what the "assault assault rifle" would have been (higher RoF, higher range, bigger clip, lower hipfire accuracy), but you can see why they didn't have that as the name. Assault blaster rifle would have been much more appropriate.
Btw, shouldn't the sniper rifle also be changed to rail rifle? Minmatar are also getting something called the precision rifle, and there's a really high chance that'll be a sniper rifle. |

turrets on a Gallente LAV have a pretty long range.
Why can't my AR fire that far? |
