I logged on today for the first time in a while. No passive sp running on this alt so I was up for some small grind time.
This alt uses a Heavy machine gun and a Heavy A/1 series suit on the normal. After the Uprising update I was disappointed enough to put this weapon down. By association, this entire alt. kinda disappointing because I had logged 3.5 mil on it... But I digress.
After a few skirmish matches, jumping in and out of random squads, I had grown fond again of my HMG. Albeit not the blood thirsty isk hungry demon of the old days, it had an antiquated feel about it that had a nice home in my heart. Now I expected to get mowed down by ARs all night, but surprisingly I wasn't threatened by many of them. I fixed up a fairly cheap suit, ducked out of sight like any smart soldier  , and held down several points while also causing a lot of problems in areas that were being captured. It was no longer the assault machine of the past, more of the... Surprise B****es!!! I'll empty barrels of lead in your candy A**!
I'm guessing due to the lack of straight kills with the HMG, people have begun to relax and take the HMG straight on... Which is a no no. See I'm a vet, I was doing this before the AR was cool. Your gonna need a group of friends to take me on, which happened several times since I was ultimately playing by myself, but it was cool. I managed to even scrape out a 1st place on the leader board a couple times, with minimal isk loss.
So then a really cool thing happened, I ran into Smoothie ( I hope I spelled it right) and some peeps from the Red Star gang. That's when the HMG really started to stand out. Two other HMG brethren were apart of the fray, and you couldn't tell a** from elbows by the time we started spraying bullets. So I made some new friends today, I got to shoot around with a gun that's reliable enough for someone with experience, and can see how Dust 514 can become a really remarkable product.
So there, Dust 514 is fun again. Try something new, even if it's hard. The rewards are Endless, like my bullets
