Heads up mercs,
We would like to inform you that today's 4.45 firmware update to your PlayStation 3 should not be installed due to issues that may surface afterwards - possibility of locking the console in a loop in the welcome screen.
We will update you right here in this thread once this issue is resolved and when it is safe to perform firmware update to 4.45.

From what I've been reading, it only affects those who have upgraded their HDDs.
I decided to update right away for some reason (which I rarely ever do) and thankfully nothing bad happened.
(Or at least hasn't happened so far.) |

What kind of PS3 do you have?
People have been seeing it mainly affects upgraded HDDs or ones with 500GB+
Mine was a Slim 250GB and so far seems to be ok. |

well read this about an hour too late. well seems to be fine for now... played a few matches without kicking me from server. but I had the same issue as well, I had to update before I could sign in. |

Strange, I signed into the PSN about 20 mins ago but did not get prompted to update like I usually do.
Guess if I want to play Dust tonight I best stay logged in.

my system is 250gb as well. I played through a few rounds of skirmish and ambush everything seemed ok for me. |

Didnt updated and Sony took the update from the network. im still on 4.41. Well ive heard that the people who experienced this issue cant even start the console in recovery mode to manually put a update on it. If thats true then sony will have some issues coming. |

Its only dust. all my other games work fine. but i can't log into dust. it says the game file is corrupted or something. i smell SABOTAGE! |

I just checked my PS3.
My auto update was set for 0800-1000. Fortunately Sony took the update off in the middle of the night GMT. |

I got on last night to play and found the ps3 had to update so I did it as usual. Nothing happened. Same with my cousin and his ps3.
I guess the update is safe for a stock ps3, but don't quote me on that! |

If you installed the update and it bricked your console: wait for the fixed update boot into recovery mode and install it via USB. |
