All I think that it a cheap way not to lose a tank. O I see a tank that went 3/0 with a railgun well I went 22/0 with a railgun too and I wasn't hiding like a chicken in the redzone. Tanks are meant to be on the frontline, they are capable of causing panic and taking hits for the team. When i see a railgun tank in the redzone i say " O look a railgun tank better go to the other side so he can't hit me" and they lose. Railgun are meant to take out vehicles, installation and infantry (who have a good aim). Only someone with a good aim shooting from over 300 ft away can make any real use out of it. The blast radius on a railgun is about 2.5 and due to the issue of not being able to see player modela railgun from a far is useless to me at that range.
I don't care about all of you redliner saying well you suck or I don't care. It a stupid cheap tactic that get on everyone nerves and I been three days since i lose a tank, so Yeah. |

Actually, Long Range Tanks just might be something of the future, so I wouldn't be surprised if the military came up with that concept. In Metal Gear Solid games, they talked about bipedal tanks being equipped with long range missiles and nuclear warheads that can reach to another continent. But the only silly thing I don't like is when the tanks are dropped on top of the buildings in Dust. It's completely unrealistic. |

What do you expect though? CCP giving people glasscannons to play with costing 1+ mill easy.
What do you really think people gonna do with it? Put a blaster on a weak tank with low PG and go toe to toe with AV...lol
I have a proto FG, and there hasn't been a single tank that I can say "man that was hard to take down"... all of them are weak. It's pathetic seeing what tanks are now. |

I'm a sniper and I disapprove of all other snipers, IMO I should be the only one, and the game should cater only to my whims.

We all used to have balls. As you grow up as a tanker you learn that tanks don't do enough tanking and your wallet shrinks.
Then you rail snipe on manus peak exclusively.

Here's hoping the pilot suits give us tankers what we need to stand up to proto AV and not instantly melt. |

Of the future? You mean today, right? Modern tank engagements are usually between 1 and 5KM. Tanks are not a close in weapon, nor are they a front line fighting vehicle. It's this INCORRECT train of thought that makes people take to the forums and cry that their huge, slow, easy to hit and vulnerable tanks die when they roll into a confined area.
When we get the Mid Weight vehicles and get IFVs, APCs and the Mechs, then those should indeed be heavy firepower, right now, tanks on the front is just a quick way to lose ISK. |

I do indeed, but if tanks pop instantly\near instantly in close range fight (As they should!) then the application of real life tactics should (and does) work. Red-line tanking is considerably different to red-line sniping. Tanks can be seen from miles away, locked onto and forced to relocate, require a knowledgeable driver who understands the concept of Hull Down and if it wants to remain combat effective, a dedicated logi passenger of at least Proto level.
Blaster tanks are what you use in PC and FW when you have a FULL team around you to support and look after your. Rail tanks are what you use in the regular games and if you're NOT sniping from the side lines and suppressing areas, you're doing it wrong.
A tanker who treats his tank like a tank, rather than a battering ram, will have a lot more ISK at the end of it all. |

I agree on your thoughts, Tanks are support vehicle being able to assist in battle only retreating when the battle get too hot only to plan a better strategy for the fight ahead. I use my tank to help push back the other team and guard objectives. I seen many people try to take me head on only discovering that they are at a disadvantaged. I tend to choose my battles against tanks by it type, turrets, shield/armor, and infantry assisted. Only giving me a two option of retreat or flank(rarely do this). Tanks are not powerful its the driver that make it powerful. |
