There is a major issue with the battle academy as it currently stands. I just ran through it with a new character and am no longer allowed in after earning 1 million sp. Now 1 million sp is nothing. Its no where near the point of being able to be copetetive let alone really helpful to a team. I do recognise that by 1 million sp a character is probably a bit OP for playing with FNG players but they are not ready to play with the big boys yet either.
To deal with this issue CCP should institute a two to three tiered system for battle academy. The first tier would remain as it stands. The second tier would be for players with between 1 and 2 million sp. players from this tier should also have the option to participate in standard battles should they so choose. The third tier would be for players with 2 - 4 million sp. These players should also have the option to participate in merc battles.
Not only would this new longer academy let players train longer prior to having to get proto stomped it will also help them develop a deeper connection with the game making them more likely to stick about once they do get the proto level beat-down handed to them every game. |

even though you left us for melon labe I have to agree with you, only because you helped me out when I first started playing eve. but yeah the academy should have its req's bumped in order to graduate. I had 545k sp and graduated after 6 matches because I hit the 10k WP mark in my alt account. |

Wait what ? 1 mill SP? everyone starts with 500k unalocated SP
Is the 500k including in the 1 mill SP threshold i wonder?
Or are they able to gain 1mill raw SP from the academy its self, to add to there already inherited 500k SP?
If the average new player earns about 5k per round then they would get on average about 100 academy rounds before they are booted under the assumption they can only earn 500k raw SP from the academy but will leave the academy with very little skills to much with considering the current skill tree.
Where i sit on the fence is give the new players all the support we can throw at them in the interests of player retention and the continued growth of the game. |

no, there are two caps that you can hit before you graduate, once you hit 1 of them you are sent into the real world. 1. 10k in WP or two 100k in SP. but once you hit one of those you are kicked from the acadamy |

^ Correct. The issue is that both of these thresholds are too low to allow players to be anything other than cannon fodder. At this point the academy system does not support new players beyond that initial 100k sp/ 10k wp. New players will get frustrated and quit because of this.
CCP has mentioned that they are going to tweek the matchmaking system to take equipment into account as well as skill. This will be helpful but once again newer players who don't have much in the way of sp will still get stomped. The academy needs to be extended in some way, be it through my tiered suggestion or some other method, to accomodate the need for new players to feel some modicum of success. |

I'd say raise the WP cap to 100k and SP cap to 3,000,000 but give newberries access to regular battles while they're still in the academy. (with proper matchmaking implemented) Also, academy battles should be limited to militia and standard gear only. |
