TL;DR: Writing to the forum should be allowed after some probation period and actively sustained by playing DUST.
CCP, you should consider regulating write "priviledge" to DUST forums.
Full write access should be earned after graduaiting through Academy. Until then write access should only be possible to Academy sub-forum. And only those in Academy have write access to it. Plus to the "Locker Room" sub-forum.
After that, one has to "actively" play DUST to sustain forum write access. One or two weeks of break result in reducing forum write access to "Locker Room" sub-forum only and has to be earned back by playing DUST and earning some fixed WP. Good players should have no trouble to claim it back in one evening.
Everybody should have read access to the whole forum.
Why? There are recently too much negative feedback threads croping exponentially. Their existence is absurdly unjustified. I understand one such thread to gather all negative opinions in one place. If one chooses to sift through all those post drooling with venom then very well and good luck. It is a complete disregard for human beings to post garbadge by tens of threads instead of just go away to play other FPS pay to play games. This negative threads are like weeds outcroping cereal. Because everybody can write to the forums. Even if they barelly played the game for half an hour. If somebody is not satisfied with DUST she should take a break, go elswere and not obscure forum reading for those who are satisfied. Otherwise it is "plain suckery".
Thanks for reading so far

This... is actually a pretty cool idea. However, I would suggest keeping the Rookie Training Grounds open for both newbies (who need to ask questions) and veterans that can make informative content. Technical Support (with some active direction to the ticket system on the main site) might need to be open as well.
If not using your Dust gameplay to maintain forum access, putting a time limit before General Discussions and Feedback are open to you seems like a good idea. At the very least, that prevent someone from the "Create New Account, Start Spamming" cycle if there was a week delay in general forum access. Academy completion would probably be harder to code forum-side. It's not a bad idea necessarily, though you might want people giving feedback on the Academy experience in media res.
The obvious work-around for the dedicated troll is to create a whole bunch of accounts at once, wait a week, and then you have reserve accounts that also have a week (or whatever) logged to troll with when the initial ones are banned. That's what makes a battle academy restriction smart. I'm just not sure how easily that could be implemented. |

That's a terrible way to deal with trolling, and a great way to isolate and discourage new players. Punishing new players for the actions of trolls is akin to judging them all as trolls without a shred of supportive evidence. |

It's a bit like censorship. Everyone has their own right to their own (occasionally idiotic) opinions. I wouldn't give freedom of speech to an adult and then tell a child that they have to wait until they're 18 to say what they want.
EDIT: Mer-i-kuh. That's how we do. |

Seriously, as if people aren't going on probation as punishment all the time.
All that is required to weed out trolls is time (they get bored sooner, rather then later) and active Mods. Growth and expansion were meant with discomfort and out spoken discontent, then people being overly snarky rather then ignoring them fuled the fire. A few days of light trolling is no reason to lockdown the forums. having the game come off as some sort of elitist country club. |

I agree with dday3six, and would add that any promotion of any other game should = ban. This is not constructive at all, and is a lame attempt to decrease playerbase. |

People (not generally but most of us) care more and respect more something that needs to be earned, achieved and sustained to own. The omnipresent forum trolling and disrespect for other players would decrease significantly if write access would be in sync with acctually playing DUST. People would respect more the right to write in every section of the forum, and not the small sub-section of it, and would think twice before trolling, spaming, bullying, flaming, griefing other players' and CCP's threads. Freedom of speech is not ment to be freedom to insult. You can point out somebody's mistakes politely and with respect for her dignity. It's really that simple...
And if somebody stops playing DUST because of dislike, why allow her to qq all over the place? |

why not just prevent them from actually replying to the threads? not allowing them to view other threads doesn't too fair if I want to take a break from this game, I understand that I cant reply to the threads after a long time. |

Interesting idea about write access (those, and only those, in Academy can only write only in that section).
I'd tentatively support that, but it would have to wait until we have ISD members covering Dust (we really have almost no ISD presence), since ISD members should also be able to write to the Academy and help out new players. |

In lieu of an IP ban for the PS2 spammer, this is a good alternative.
