I decided to go from Dropships to Tanks, since i understand and see now that i give out plenty of ISK and don-Št gain it.
I have some Tank questions there:
How is it with tanks?Are you getting more ISK than you give out for a Tank?
How should you play them?
I-Šve read some Tank builds but still can-Št decide, Armour or Shield, what should i choose?Armor does have more HP but is weak against swarms and AV grenades, but Shields do have less HP..
Which big turret fits for a Tank?A Blaster or a Railgun?
What Skills should i skill for Tanks? |

1. You won't cover the cost of a tank in one battle, however you can make them survive multiple battles if you play them right. I still make money when using Gunnlogi's.
2. Very carefully. Armor tanks tend to work better against other tanks, and shield tanks work better for infantry support. Don't be stupid and sit in the middle of an open field, guns blaring, and scream "LOL I R AM AN IS A TO BE LOLTANK JOO KANT TUTCH ME I IR IS THE INVINCIBLE!". These guys are asbsolute idiots. Use cover, stay near infantry (you scratch their back, they scratch yours), and always leave room for an escape route.
3. I personally use shields. The explosive resistance coupled with 3x the shield regen of armor tanks lets me shrug off swarms and take a good amount of AV nades before I have to go clamoring back. I do lose 1v1's to armor tanks if I don't get the drop on them though. Those things burst tank like crazy.
4. Blasters for close range brawling / wiping out infantry, rails for long range installation / vehicle destruction.
5. Definetly get core skills and some large / small turret skills (I like the small blasters. Missiles have no explosion radius, and small rails are extremely niche). After that, pour everything else you have into survivability (and if you choose armor, maybe some weapon upgrades).
EDIT: We only have access to standard tanks currently. We're up against prototype AV weapons. The game will feel like the AV is OP. It's really not, we just don't have their level of equipment yet. |

Btw, it turns out HAVs also have a destruction penalty, like dropships.
When mine blew up yesterday with 2 gunners, I got Kill: -50 Kill: -50 |

This is a pretty good post, although I have to disagree about the small turrets. I've found that putting small cycled missile turrets (those are the kind that fire three missile bursts) is extraordinarily helpful when you're going up against close range enemies. Tanks, infantry, even dropships if they decide to get too close. It's extremely difficult to actually hit anything on purpose, but when you have six missiles going through the air within the span of every single second (assuming you have two gunners, and unfortunately with these turrets you probably will because blueberries seem to ******* LOVE cycled missile launchers), it's both terrifying and deadly.
Also, you'll probably find as you decide to go into shields or armor that you'll gravitate more naturally toward blasters or railguns. Blasters are more useful when you have plenty of powergrid to spare, and railguns are more useful when you have plenty of CPU leftover. |

Experiment with the militia tanks before investing too much SP one way or the other. Forgot to mention that, and it's probably the most important thing to do. Decide if you like armor or shield better, then skill into it. |

+1 good answers just going to add a few things to each one
1. My pub gunnlogi Costs about 700,000 ( ADV big turret STD smalls) 6k shields 40% resists ... Never roll enforcer in pubs 2.4 mil isn't worth it (Besides Enforcer tanks are glass cannons)
2. From what i can tell Shield seem to work best with passive resists and Armor with active. A moving tank is safe tank (at times) don't let merc drop nanos and spam AV nades at you then QQ saying AV is op...
3. I'm also a shield tanker. I favor the speed over raw HP. Yes i know the Armor tank has faster base speed but once you put your first plate on it becomes slower then the Gunnlogi.
4. Blasters are used for CQC and do more damage to shields then armor. Railgun Meant for Mid/Long range battles does more damage to Shields then armor (Most effective for Tank vs Tank battles). Missles meant for Short/Mid range battles does more damage to armor then shields.
5. No matter what tank you go get Weapon upgrades to 3. You want to make sure you max out your damage (I didn't spend a lot of point in small turrets seeing as i mostly PC now and could careless about my gunners). A lot of skills you will need to almost max out to reduce the CPU cost to fit it with the best. |

unless your using a crapy militia tank, YOUL NEVER GET THE ISK EQUIVALENT OF YOUR TANK IN ONE MATCH, itl take several matches for you to get your isk back granted your tank survives that long.

I play them strategically, I find a high point on the map that gives me a view of the entire map and i shoot wherever i see a red dot near a friendly objective then i go blaster and go in for the infantry kills and clear out any area. but once that's over i go back to the rail and kill any enemy tanks i see.

armor is the better way to go, for now that is. the armor reps are far superior to shield boosters and av doesn't kill off armor tanks nearly as fast as shield tanks.

depends on the situation, rail guns are best used against machinery, other vehicles and instillations. blasters are mainly meant for infantry but VERY useful against the normal tank in close quarter fire fights for now.

the core skills are what need to be fixed majorly if tanks are to make a come back (which we are doing) vehicle core upgrades, from armor to shield categories, circuitry and pg upgrades are essential, and turrets, I recommend small and large hybrid turret upgrades because mainly missiles are still weak imo because I kill every tank I see on the field and iv only been killed by other drivers only when iv been weakened a little by a previous fight about 5 seconds before.

Only about 20 tankers in the whole game can do that

If you have no goal of PC, shields, if you want to be in PC, armor. This is bc armor tanks are not good close range vs infantry due to weakness to explosives, and shields cant rep as fast as armor, nor do they have the powerful minute long reistance modules, so general armor > shield in a tank battle.

Railgun is your all-purpose weapon if you practice with it. In extremely skilled hands, it's 50% effective vs infantry at close range as a blaster, and 5% in unskilled hands. The blaster does have a higher DPs, though, so closing distance is key in tank battles,and even infantry stomping. Personally, I like the railgun because i can counter forges at longe range with it, knock dropships out of the sky, and still take on close range targets with moderate reliability.
5. What Skills should i skill for Tanks?
You will want active hardeners, passive resistance modules, shield extenders, armor plates, shield boosters, armor reppers, hybrid turrets, nitros modules, and damage mods for a bare bones toolkit, assuming you want both armor and shields. |
