Ok, so after watching a couple videos posted by CCP on DUST514, ive noticed the difference in graphics are very different..
I watch the vids in 1080p, the gameplay has no Aliasing, No blocky textures, and shadows outline the character, perfect right? Cool.
So when i start playing, there is major Aliasing, textures look like vomit, and shadows are a nasty. What gives?
Im currently playing on one of the newer PS3 systems (Still new to PS3s, just upgraded from PS2, dont judge me.. :c)
Now, already i can see the questions formulating in the air, i can answer some of the obvious ones.
Yes, im using an HDMI Cable.
Yes, im on a LCD HD TV.
Yes, ive looked through the PS3 System Settings.
Yes, ive looked through the In-Game Settings.
No, none of these have worked.
What am i doing wrong? |

When I previously lobbied to have graphics rendered based on capabilities I did not mean that people should be limited to 780p and in fact feel that it is really making the game look significantly worse than it has too. Previous versions ran fine at 1080p and we had requested modifications to the 480p CRT resolution setting that was and still is rather lack luster (understandably so). Please give us back 1080p. |

In what world? The game looked revolting in Chromosome. It was embarrassingly bad.

First, don't watch console gameplay vids in 1080p. 720p is where you should be watching. That's the native resolution. Plus, the video is compressed to a point where you won't see much aliasing until you get it on your own screen and see it for yourself.

Uh, you're familiar with the game industry, yes? Every company does this and they also edit screenshots. The industry term for it is "bullshots". Which is why my brain hurts when GTA5 screenshots come out and people freak out something fierce. Edited, people. Very edited. This is normal for the industry.

We never had 1080p. Nor has the game ever run natively at 1080p. Nor will it ever be that way on the PS3. There were some people it seems who could "force" it in older builds,, and it made things a little better for them apparently, even then it isn't 1080p. It's still a native frame of 1280x720.

I understand that companies edit screenshots and videos to make the game look better when they promote it, i guess they use the term 'gameplay' to loosely, seeing as most of the videos on DUST posted by CCP are Trailer quality.
Oh well, i still enjoy the game and play it, i just hope the graphics are updated accordingly to PS4 standards. |
