Currently, we have the redzone. While immersion breaking, it keeps your team from being spawn-killed, but is flawed in that your team can abuse it. Then we also have the question "why don't they just orbital the MCC?" and also "why does an MCC matter?"
Well, the following could change a lot of these things
First, remove team-specific redlines. The randomness of the non-MCC spawn should protect against this
Then, add a massive bubble shield around the MCC. NULL cannon rounds are designed to pierce this bubble, but other projectiles (including orbitals) can't get through it. You can't even shoot out of it from the inside. However, players can still walk/drive/fly through it
Lastly, put the MCC's turrets into effect! Have them automatically blast the hell out of anything red that gets inside the bubble
This should do more than just stop redline sniping and orbital spawn-killing. This will also give the MCC a purpose in the future. In skirmish 1.0, the objective for the defenders was to prevent the MCC from getting too close; but why would they give a damn if it's just an oversized dropship with a mCRU? The shield and turrets would finally give the MCC some tactical significance, rather than just floating around looking threatening. |

If you don't have a fleet in orbit you run the risk of losing/taking a huge hit to your MCC.
At the same time I want to see less of a focus on the MCC making game modes where MCCs are present but still playable even on MCC destruction. Like a total annihilation mode where you have to destroy the MCC and deplete the clone reserves, etc.
There's a lot of room, lore, and available creative minds to come up with some truly off the wall, fun game modes. |
