I've been stuck for awhile trying to find out the best way to give back to the Dust community. The forums here are great for what they do, but I'm wordy as all get out and half the time the threads I want to post don't make it here because they're not really great material for discussion threads...they're more like blog posts.
So I rolled with that.  Here's the link:

The title is "High Scores and Chessboards", which is a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor on the two typical mentalities in Dust.
I plan for the blog to be weekly and cover basically anything Dust. Right now I'm on a bit of a CCP fettish, but there's interesting stuff to be said about politics, gear, the community...
Anyways, please check it out and if you like it keep checking back. I always appreciate a plug wherever I can get it as well!

Give it a read folks, Leither has some interesting things to say and opinions to share, and they aren't nearly as ranty or annoying as many people on this forum are! |

Nice read, much less ranty than most of the posts on this board, but the fundamental problem of asking the question is:
If CCP are taking a long view, then wether they are on-track or not depends (to a certain degree) on what their Roadmap looks like ... you know that thing we are are often hinting we've never seen to the point I tried to make our own Roadmap from what they've told the community (yes, blatant plug).
Considering we're anywhere from 2-4 weeks away from the Uprising 1.2 update, and we've seen only the small smattered of what to expect from one Dev Team, and today we get a fluff piece that basically says "CCP listens to the Community", who knows if they are "On Track", "Off the Rails", or "About to be shot by a Railgun"? |

Yeah looking at how many people try Dust and quit rapidly after they try it i have to say that CCP could dump its entire base if it could only get a new player retention rate up.
1000s of new players try this game every week..if they stayed they would swamp the base in no time.
Maintaining its base should be CCPs least concern....and the fact it is the PuB stomping that the base is doing to the new players (not their fault CCP fail design made that.) that is chasing away the new players Dust would probably be better off just dumping its core players in the garbage. |
