how is dust 514 gonna compete? ive been with this game since beta and haven't seen much movement besides more weapons and a slight graphic change
I want this game to last more than a year and the Soon(tm) statement on everything makes me think its dead in the water we need progress and we need it fast.
Ideas? Concern? Discuss? |

Did CCP realize that they would have competition? the free-to-play shooter is why I joined the beta but with the slow progress of CCP and fast progress of other games what would be some good options to beat out these ps4 games? |

It all depends on something we will never see and that is:
CCPs benchmark for success for this game.
For all we know we have already exceeded their expectations for Dust 514.
Whatever that benchmark is will determine what actions CCP will take next in relation to the competition they must see coming this Christmas and in 2014. |

Well, the key IMHO is that Dust514 is only on PS3. So if you don't get a ps4, Dust might just be the best f2p Sci fi shooter out there. |

there is a few coming up on ps4.
im currently playing black retribution on pc...thats coming on ps4. its an ok game.
but i think because dust is gonna be around 2 years old when ps4 hits..even if dust makes it to ps4 these f2p games will finish it |

Well, since ps3 is no longer in the nextgen market they arw not competing with these other products. They are in the same genre, but consumers have to buy a new console to play them. I know ton of us have plans to get the new console, but several aren't for numerous reasons. Seems clear that not releasing DUST on ps4 may have been a good idea, they are exposing themselves to less failure by isolating it to 1 console. |

It's probably NOT going to compete. I mean, look at how little progress they've made with a year of beta. If it takes them this long to create a terrible game that barely works, how many years is it gonna take for it to be even close to on-par with PS4 launch titles?

Meh, Warframe was better I found.
I didn't give PS2 much of a chance, but that's only because as soon as you start playing, when you first get the classes

according to the playstation store, that niche market gave them $12456 over the past 8 months. nowhere near enough to support a full dev team. CCP will have to shut dust down before it sucks the funding out of eve.

People, People... I come with info on this aspect.
Real gamers read about things like this and understand these things. Anyone notice theres more free to play games out there then their use to be? Games are becoming money pits, you can make more money with a free to play model then buying it once.
CCP would of understand this before making the game.
The free to play model is here and i wouldn't be surprised if big AAA title go this way to. |
