I was sick of dust again.. then I fire up halo on my laptop. there is still a LOT of people playing multiplayer Halo 1 I configure my playstation controller (special drivers etc..) then as soon as I start aiming.. A REVELATION
wow this feel just right. why? after further investigation I found it
When you tilt your stick toward an enemy player head.. as soon as you even begin to bring back the stick toward the middle position IT STOPS.
This is exactly what feel weird about the Aiming in dust is that they implemented it as a X/Y coordinate system just like the joystick would make a cursor move. but in the heat of battle the split second it take for the stick to be going back toward it's neutral position the aiming still continue and this result in over aiming.. I mean instead of feeling precise you aim continue to far and you keep trying to make corrections.
The general feeling is a lot more complicated than that. because there is a whole other set of input curve that trigger this behaviour or not for stick mouvement going away from the center position and different curves for the mouvement going towards the center position. |

Dust's controls are too tight even at higher sensitivity, and I usually lose gunfights because of this. I should play Halo PC again to see the difference because I use a ps3 controller for Halo on PC. |

Halo 1 multiplayer is broken as hell atm. Only reason people probably play is because they can mod and so many weapons are OHK |

the thing is, the aiming in this game is very inconsistent, sometimes I can directly hit targets in the face, sometimes I can't keep the target in my sights at all, which leads me to conclude that this is a frame rate issue, so the ultimate fix to aiming is to keep frame rate stable, which may be related to the game optimization that's going to be in Uprising 1.2, hopefully that fixes it. |
