Good Morning My Fellow Mercs, and welcome to AV 101 This Forum is to Give Basic Guidelines On How to AV with a Reasonable Amount of Skill. While you wont be a HAV Hunter after Reading this Forum, you Will be able to Put a Thorn in the Side of Murder Taxis and, given enough of your buddies are at your Side, might be able to scare those Standard Tanks off.
Rule #1 Survival Amongst Assaults
In your First Battle in the Academy, no doubt you encountered Many AR users. There are many more ARs out on the Field of Factional Warfare and Instant Battle. One thing that Absolutely No AV Fit Can go without is a Sidearm. Absolutely. None. If you Must drop a Shield Extender or Armor Plate, so Be it. With out a Sidearm, you Might as Just Commit Suicide. Choose your Weapon based on your own Play style. This weapon is more Important that you tune to you play style then your AV weapon. There are Basically 3 Types of Sidearm
1. The Scrambler Pistol- Good for those who are meticulous with there shots, as the Fire Rate is Below Average. However, For those with Skill, this weapon has a 4 or 4.5 Headshot Multiplier. The Damage for the Militia Scrambler is 7 I believe, so 71 time 4 is 284 damage for a headshot. 2. The SMG- My Preferred Weapon, it handles very Much like a AR with a Red Dot Sight. High RoF, Low Damage, Short Ranged. For those who have Played the AR for some time, this is the Preferred Sidearm as it plays like almost exactly like it with a shorter Range. 3. The Flaylock- I personally have Never Used it, it is a Hand Held Dumb fire, Single Shot Rocket Pistol. I have No opinion on it as I haven't even Skilled it to Standard.
Make your Own Personal Choice as you Like, as it May as well be your Primary with all the Assaults trying to kill every thing that moves, has Moved, or will move.
Rule #2 What you came here For Yes, what AV weapon to chose, and how to use it. This section will inform you of the usage of the 2 Light AV weapons available, because if your a Heavy, you Probably know what AV weapon you will use, the All destroying Forge Gun.
1- The Swarm Launcher- This weapon is the Baseline AV weapon. It Uses Lock on Missiles to Deal Damage to Vehicles. This Weapon is Very Helpful to use for dealing with those Pesky Murder-Taxis, and Dropships. They will Never Miss Unless the Target Outruns them, which I have never have happen to me.
This Weapon has a Slight Lock Time, So be Warned
It Should say in the Stats, But Each Missile deals 300-400 Damage depending on the Tech Level, But there are 4 Missiles fired in Each Salvo, adding up to ~1200 Damage Each Salvo
You Don't Have to Keep you Crosshair on target after you get lock for it to Keep the Lock, this way you can Fire around Obstacles. Be warned, don't take your crosshair off it to long, or the Lock will Break
2- The Plasma Launcher- This Is a Single Shot Dumb-Fire RPG with an Firing Arc. It deals Substantial damage on hit, the only thing is hitting the Target.
Keep in mind the Firing Arc, as Prevents you from Just Pointing and Button Mashing.
There is a Slight Charge Time Before a Shot, so Keep that I mind for popping in and out of cover.
This is a Single Shot Weapon, so it takes a lot of Skill to Master. Player Skill. Not SPs.
On Hit, it deals over 1000 Damage, so make 'em Count!
You have Limited Spare ammo, so Keep that in mind, only 8 spare shots.
#3 Tips and Tactics
It is Advised to Carry an Nanohive as Equipment, as all AV weapons have Low Spare Shots, and Sidearms also lack in the spare ammo department.
Your Role Excels at Holding Position, as Your Sidearm Need that Element of Surprise to get the Enemy First, and Vehicles can usually be seen from Miles away, and given your using a swarm launcher, you can hit miles away, while they cant hit you.
It Could be advised to Armor Tank as It frees up High Slots to Improve you Damage output, making HAV kills slightly easier.
It Serves to Common Sense, Never go Solo Roaming as an AV, you lack the Anti-Infantry Punch needed to do that. Stick to Installations, and Either Snipe with the scrambler, or Harass the enemy away with your SMG.
*Note, If any of you other AV guys can add to what I've said, or reiterate it in a Better way, Please Feel free to do so in the Replies*
