Everyone is always yelling at CCP for doing everything wrong, but I'm still having a blast playing this game. Dust is cutting edge in so many regards, granted there plenty of issues, but they are trying to reinvent the wheel to some extent.

I almost exclusively run a light DS (and pretty soon I think I'll be the only person running a proto light suit), and I don't feel like I'm getting killed too fast, or getting overpowered by unfair balancing issues. This isn't your typical shooter, so why do we keep expecting it to be? It might be blasphemy, but good work CCP! Thanks for giving us a different FPS.

After all, this is free to play. You don't need boosters to remain competitive, you just need to not suck.

I created an alt today, and for a beautiful moment there was a battle with everyone in militia gear. And the fight was balanced and viseral. We lost and ambush map 0 clones to 1 clone. The snipers where on the ground, there were close range fights between tanks and AV. No tower snipers, no tower tanks, no proto gear lamers.

And I thought to myself "this is what Dust 514 should feel like"

I recommend every vet should try this. Make an alt and get in instant battle acedemy. No fiddling with SP to try get an edge, just cast it all off and let your FPS skills guide you. Theres something very zen about it all.

then stop chasing gear. that's something you're choosing to do. and i agree with you, grinding and chasing gear is dumb. just relax and play for fun. or don't play - it's ok if you don't like it. but it's not a job, there's no reason to be complaining to ccp about things you are compelling yourself to do.

it's only a concern of mine insofar as you seem determined to dedicate all your time and wit to share your emotional suffering to the rest of us as much as possible. I'd be content to just never hear from you again, but even better would be if i witnessed you reaching true peace, without cynicism in your heart. not just the calm, controlled peace of a practiced sociopath.

as for edges, sure, they exist. they just don't guarantee a win.
