I would like to see more of the MMORPG side of EVE come out in Dust 514. The FPS part of it looks nice and shows some promise but I think the game needs a bunch more work to really be like the EVE universe and become more of a sandbox.
The simple FPS side is nice and should always stay for fun and casual gameplay. I would like to see more open world type of things.. say planet II in Egmar has X amount of districts. I want to be able to walk around the planet going from district to district, really cover my feet in dust.. wink wink. Have 'gates' on the edges of the maps, maybe a little corridor section between districts where some PvE type of things can be found.. kinda like belt ratting in Eve. Have some faction mod drops from some npc dudes once in a while, maybe a salvaging module to fit in your equipment slot. Even a salvaging class of dropsuit to scoop a little more isk out of fights with npcs or players, with the riskof getting your head popped off while trying to salvage it.
I just think there needs to be a little more to do -on the ground-, after all it is Dust 514. Maybe for FW planets, have some bunkers or little command stations to fight over and control. Say there's some resources near those installations and you could get more isk to put into fancy proto outfits and whatnot. (Side note: would love to see an isk destroyed tab in the battle reports and have stats and battle reports more accessible for others to see.)
Maybe this is too hard to achieve, especially for the small amount of people that are currently playing. I just think there has to be a bit more in game to make it stand out from the rest of the FPS games. Make it a truly MMORPGFPS.. that might take this game to a whole, 'nother, level.
Tell me I'm wrong or add to it, I've gotta go for now. Cheers |

plus 1. I think you guys are learning and are better fine tuning the FPS side of Dust 514. But to me and im sure many others it hasn't felt all that much as an MMORPG. as Stephen said it would be nice to be able to walk around on the planet and travel from district to district. then maybe have a way to buy "jump clones" like the ones in eve in the district or planet, as well as a contract system set up were a ship can take you to a station or another planet.
being able to walk around on the planet freely would be a large endeavor dev wise, but I think it would take this current "FPS" to that next level. where people could randomly shoot at a person walking by, but then are attacked by an npc police "concord" if they are in a high sec system. or maybe a gang waiting in low sec for some unlucky person. this was a normal day in eve for the 2 months that I played but I think it would bring a lot to this game.
if a small fight did break out on a district then any one could shoot anyone, but add some mechanics that distinguish to you who is the enemy and who is on your side. corp/alliance blue, every one else orange- until they shoot at you or some one of your corp/alliance. re-spawns/death -in null/low sec the cost of death is much higher, (if you do not own that district) and you die then you re spawn at your corps home station, or if you have a jump clone in another system you can spawn there. if you do own that district in null sec you spawn at a CRU structure that your corp can purchase and place "because nothing is free in eve" -if it is in a high sec (.5+) then you spawn at a CRU structure on the district or in both cases you can activate a jump clone or spawn back at your corps home station.
now no one can win or lose one of those fights but where being able to walk freely comes to play is when a PC battle takes place
when a corp attacks a district to MCC's appear on the ground. for those not in one of the two corps they can sit back and watch the fight, maybe shoot at some guys for laughs, or they can look in there battle finders an look under mercenary battles and will find that one is available, they can choose attackers or defenders and depending on there choice they are placed on that team. the corps who are fighting over the district will be given the ability to place payments to those who fight for them. for corp A places 500k isk pot to be split between mercs and only 1 merc joins there side and they win that merc gets the 500k. or corp B places 3 mill pot and 15 mercs fight for them and they win, each merc only gets 200k. the corp leaders have the ability to accept a player that wants to fight for them or reject that player.
"Do you want to know more?"
