This can also apply to the Gallente dropsuits as well but I have minimal experience with dropsuits so I will just stick to vehicles.
In EVE, Amarr are the strongest armor tankers and Caldari are the strongest shield tankers. Their slot layouts are identical except the kind of tank. For example, an Amarr ship with 7 lows and 4 mediums would be equally matched by a Caldari ship with 7 mediums and 4 lows.
Now let's talk about Gallente. When compared to Amarr, Gallente lose a low slot in exchange for a medium slot, so they could end up with a slot layout of 6 lows and 5 mediums. Obviously this difference in low slots makes Amarr a better armor tanker than Gallente, in addition to any armor hardening bonuses an Amarr hull may have.
In Dust, the Gallente vehicles have the opposite match of the Caldari vehicles. This is wrong from an EVE perspective. For example, based on EVE philosophy, a Madrugar should have 4 lows and 3 highs. The Amarr HAV will have 5 lows and 2 highs (the current slot layout of the Madrugar).
The way I see it Amarr HAVs should tank as much as Gallente vehicles can right now. Making them tank more than the current Gallente vehicles will make them OP. Removing one low slot from Gallente vehicles will help aid with the vehicle balancing problem as Gallente can't tank as much (nor were they ever supposed to in the first place, it's the job for the Amarr).
In addition to making shield boosters stronger, this will greatly make vehicles more balanced. Amarr and Caldari complement each other and have tanks that are equally as strong (relatively, since shield tanks can burst or passive tank while armor tanks can only take sustained damage). Gallente has better utility options than Amarr at the cost of less armor while Minmatar can do either shield or armor as well as being the fastest ships in EVE. |

What applies in EVE doesn't need to apply to DUST, yes, it may be the same universe, but it's a totally different game, from a totally different genre, what works in EVE might not work for DUST. Who's to say that their ground forces wouldn't be different from their spacefleet, one would assume that's common sense? |

Well, in that's the case, let's get rid of fittings, SP, skill trees, shields/armor and we can all run around with ARs that kill each other in 4 hits... |

So what, the Amarr vehicles will suck at armor tanking as much as Caldari vehicles suck at shield tanking? You make no sense. Go back to playing CoD. |

Ah, the CoD argument, no, I don't play CoD. I also don't take heed of the lore as I have no interest in EVE as a game or the EVE community, they tend to bring everything down to Reductio ad absurdum whenever someone disagrees with them (You two have proven my point), I merely play DUST because I enjoy playstyle it brings, CCP have even said themselves, what works in EVE doesn't necessarily work in DUST, don't shoot the messenger.

But that's no excuse for making Amarr shield tankers (on dropsuits) or making Gallente the best armor tankers because its the Amarr that have the best armor in New Eden. If the devs got the lore correct to begin with, then this discussion wouldn't be brought up and people like you that don't care about the lore would still be indifferent. You wouldn't have cared for the lore if Gallente vehicles had the appropriate layouts or Amarr dropsuits were better armor tankers than Gallente to begin with right?
All I'm asking is for the devs to get their lore right before the game evolves too much. Again, it would've made no difference if the lore was right to begin with, but now everything that makes up the the backbone of New Eden has been thrown out the window. |

Not yet. Wait until we have Amarr and minmatar vehicles first. |
