So I have only been playing the game for a few days now, but, being the kind of player I am... I am looking to play the game the way I think it is meant to be played. I'm looking to start a corp. Yes, I know most of you seasoned players of this (Dust 514) and EVE, are probably think "Fuc**** Noob", In which you are absolutely correct. But that is the glory of an MMO, I can be an absolute rookie and still be a great player of the game.
Anyways, any pointers, comments, how-to guides, or any tid bit of helpful information pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

To be honest, you're going to have serious difficulty starting a corp on your own right at the start. As you play the game, you'll meet people and make friends - eventually, when you have enough friends, you can convince them that banding together in a corp would be fun.
To get people to join a corp, there needs to be a reason to join it - for a lot of people that's activity and oppurtunities to squad up. If there's barely anyone in your corp, much fewer people will want to join. It takes a while to really get the ball rolling.
If you seriously want to have a go straight off anyway, I'd say the key is to recruit a LOT. While advertising in local makes your corp look like a scrubcorp, it'll help it get started and you might get a few decent players. Make a solid thread in Corporation Recruitment, send mails to people in NPC corps in matches inviting them to join your corp. If someone randomly joins your squad, see if they're in an NPC corp, and if they are invite them too.
It's difficult though, and at the start I'd advise you to simply join an existing one until you've got the hang of things. If you start a corp when you're well-known and if you're seen as a good player, then it'll be much easier to rally people to your cause. |

Thanks, that was the exact kind of reply I was looking and hoping to receive. I'm not afraid to be told not to do something, but, on the other hand its helpful to know that its going to take alot of recruiting and therefore, I can always start doing that now. Just a heads up to the players of DUST 514. Thank you for the helpful insight. Are there any corps that you know of that would take in a recruit like myself to help understand the way a corp works, and give me further insight?

If you decide to join a Corp and learn the game before striking out on your own and forming a new Corp, then you may want to consider joining DUST University. The reason DUST University would be a good fit for you is that member retention is not one of our goals. We expect most of our members to only stay for a limited time while they learn the game, and then move on (graduate) to other corporations. (The exception being those who decide to stick around and become instructors.)
So if your long term goal is to start your own Corp, then DUST University would be a good place to meet people and make connections, so that when you form your new Corp you can bring a core group of trusted friends with you to get things started. DUST University has a constant stream of new members coming in. We have over 1200 active members. (Every month we kick any member that has not been online in 30 days.) So, you should be able to make plenty of contacts there.
In regards to setting up a new Corp: - A good name helps. - What is the mandate of your corp? What does it stand for? What makes it different from all the other Corps out there? - Start with making a private chat channel. If you can get a bunch of people to join it and play together you are a step closer to being able to make an effective Corp. (At least you will have people to squad with, and some of them may come over to your Corp when you form it.) - Squad up with people. If they seem to like playing with you, invite them to your Chat channel or Corp (once you start it). - If you are good enough to top the leader boards in Public Matches it will be easier to convince people to join your channel/Corp. |

I am interested in this opportunity, and also the challenge of the game. I am not a rooki persay but I'm not a veteran either. Again thanks for all the helpful info. |

Ok, this is gonna sound silly but bear with me. Making a corp from scratch and promoting in public chats and forums is WRONG. It will take a long time and as all strong players are already in strong corps they will not join you. Making the corp out of noobs and creating bonds with them is a gamble because when they get strong enough they will be lured by other stronger corps.
Here is the right way to make a corp in 5 easy steps. 1. Join a training corp. Learn about the game and make some good friends there. 2. Start a regular group of guys that you freque tly squad with 3. Once you have all gotten about 5m sp join a stronger corp. One of the big names and learn about endgame. They will tell you everything about how PC and faction war works and what it takes to win competitive battles. 4. Branch out and make more friends in that corp. Make sure it is a closely knitt group of guys that get along REALLY well. 5 Splinter from that corp on good terms and join their alliance. Take all your friends and form of cohesive structure and start inviting other players to strengthen it.
People will join if you are with a well recognised alliance and especially if you can demonstrate effectiveness in endgame. "POWER PERCEIVED IT POWER ACHIEVED!" always remember that.

this is how you make a corp ... if you go into it accepting any scrub that you can get ur hands on no good player will join (or stay for long) but with time and good direction it can be done .... hint when recruiting on in pub matches look for those who did good but are in npc corps and also dont be afraid to recruit ppl from other trianing corps ie dust U...etc
