Been playing for about 12 days. Never heard of EVE nor am I interested, point is there is enough to learn here without adding to it.
Picking a race - does it really matter, not readily explained , so I go for the first choices.
Had no idea how hard it would be to collect SP, fact is 500K is not much to make a balanced player. To spend 80K - 130k FOR 3-5% improvement is quite the leap of faith. With no way to test out the before/after fitting it just seems like there is no effect. Honestly when I look at the time I spend in game and the meager SP collected I get seriously discouraged to continue. It's like....just another few more weeks of dying and I may have enough to improve my character, all I need is12K SP then 87K SP 187K SP then 87K SP then 12K SP and 77K ISK and I can get the next level assault rifle, but when I look at the comparison stats for each weapon it is difficult to really discern the diff. Well, one sure fire way to tell the diff is to unload your AR into someone and watch it have little effect, then die. Let's see , I was killed with the Duvolle, but of course.
Tried out every standard fit. Let see, the medic... could not heal a soul for various reasons, getting killed while stabbing the ground would fully explain my experience.
Swarm launcher is useless and turns you into sniper/LAV/tank fodder.
Front assault fit.....lol
Sniper, I can shoot across the map. Now this might explain why 7 of 16 players in a map are sitting on top of hills, roofs, inside the red line ( how is this done?) or the MCC.
tried flying a ship.... went something like this.... 1st time got up and crashed, second and third as well. Fourth try someone took off with it. Fifth try crashed , but rather spectacularly I think. Never got shot at though, I guess it was pretty obvious I was spending AUR to learn and my fellow players were taking pity on me. Just kidding. i was never up for very long to be targeted.
Joined a squad, not sure the effectiveness of this when only I have a mic. Jumped into a tank, was asked to get out and called a vulture. From my observations team play is the spirit of the game, but not the practice.
So what to do, specially when I have invested actual money into the game? Well I'll run you over with my free LAV. I'll hide in the MCC and shoot hoping for the best. (BTW - I really have been doing this and learning quite a bit in regards to individual tactics) . I'm a camper and the lowest skilled player at killing opponents , but at least I stay alive long enough and get 1-3 kills per match, and the most important part.... I don't get farmed.
PS - I've camped long enough to see how a team can win every single time. Stop trying to control all the cannons, you simply need two of three or three of five. Instead I see teams take over A and run to B, fight for it and run to C. Loose A run to it and loose C. Jeez guys control 2 of 3 and you will win. Play defense in force and the attackers will succumb as they rarely attack en mass. If they do so what , you got spawn points close to strategic points so you don't have to run across the map , nanos and hold the choke points.
