Get a mic if you can. Scout - Light frame suit, fast but limited HP Assualt - Medium Frame - Good HP Logi - Medic Class Heavy - High HP but slow
From the sounds of it buy the cheapest stuff you can get. Play a few games and judge whether you are making a profit or losing isk (in game currency).
If you die you loose whatever that clone was fitted with. |

The answer to this question determines whether you should play a scout or assault. Do you charge in and fight face to face with enemy?
If the answer is yes then play assault.
If you prefer the oblique approach, attack from the side, rear, and above and you are willing to run away if you can not finish the enemy quickly then you may make a good scout, at least in temperament.
The reason why a mic is a good idea is the ability to communicate with other players quickly in game e.g there is a squad heading to C. Voice communication can be a problem when playing with randoms but quite a lot of player run corps will have a significantly greater number of players who do have mics than you will find in a random public match.
If you are playing a shotgun scout then as your secondary weapon use a SMG to begin with as you will have plenty of rounds to spray and pray with. There are other hand weapons that have higher damage per shot e.g. Scrambler Pistol but you will need to a good shot every time to be effective with it.
Shields & Armor are as follow: Militia, STD (Basic), Enhanced, and Complex. The complex is the best but as a new player you will not have the SP to fit them. In fact as a new player you will struggle with any fitting that requires significant CPU or PG.
For the moment stick with militia fit and with a bit of SP investment in skills you can mix in some STD modules as well.
If you go to the Rookie Forum you will find people who have put up guides for fitting dropsuits. A guy called lowratehitman has also put a fitting guide on YouTube. |

Weapons: Start with the AR (Assault Rifle) as it is fully automatic. Scrambler Rifle has a bit more range but is semi-automatic I.e takes more accurate shot placement to be effective.
Your secondary weapon: again stick with the SMG
Left Hand Modules: Militia Shield Extender x 2 Right Hand Modules: Militia Armor Repairer x 1, Militia Armor Plate x 1
Grenade: Lower Left Hand Module: Militia Locus Grenade
Equipment Slot: Lower Right Hand module: Militia Repair Tool
If you are having problems with CPU or PG when fitting these items then discard items in this order:
1st to go/not fit is the Militia Repair Tool 2nd to go/not fit is the Militia Locus Grenade
Everything else should fit on a basic militia assault dropsuit but if it doesn't then discard one of the shield extenders.
If you are undecided on which racial dropsuit to skill into then go for Caldari Medium frame suits as the Assualt suit is pretty good but it also gives you the chance to skill into the Caldari Logi Suit which is currently the most versatile suit for an assault guy at the moment.
By the time you have gathered the necessary SP to go into the racial specialisation suits you should have a much better understanding of the game, skill tree, and what you find fun.
Good luck and don't rush to get out of the Academy as the open environment is far harsher and you will be fighting against people with many millions of SP.
If you are still unsure about your playstyle etc when you do leave the Academy then create alts, currently there are three slots for characters on your Dust Account. Assume at some point you will be deleting the alts so do not put anything of value on these accounts e.g. Boosters or BPOs purchased for Aurum or directly with real life money like the mercenary pack. These items should only be attached to your main character. |

So I'd start with everything level 1 that is level 1 assault rifle or scrambler rifle level 1 grenade level 1 shield level 1 armor repair etc etc i can talk to you in game message me
STD is the way to go but as a new player keep costs low I.e. below 10k for a single fitting. This way you should always be making a profit from each battle. The closer to the end of the battle you join the more cautious you want to be about dying I.e. if you join the battle at the start you can probably die 10 times, hopefully not happening to you, and still make a profit but if you join in the last minute or if your team is down to the last 10-15 clones then you do not want to die 5-10 times as you will make a loss.

Ludvig Enraga wrote:As a new player I recommend the sitting in the MCC role. It is the most profitable in the game. The second to that is quit and come back in 6 month role. If you want more, you can get in a free death taxi and ride around. You dont need any suits or guns for that. Lastly there is a whine about broken things role - you don't get any special rewards but it's the funnest playstyle.
These roles are really for the more experienced, and preferably more bitter players (vets). |
