Please CCP lets give the vets somewhere to go how about a match labeled veterans battle this is for 10 mill skill points and above players only. Everyone here will have a chance because they will all obviously be specialized into something. I can only imagine what strategys these players would come up with and what they would loose on the battlefield. Instant battles are plagued with veterans in EVE would you put a trial account up against a 1 or 2 year player? Thanks for reading on my idea guys.

Mercenary battles are fun because veterans don't play in them from what I have seen. The academy is also fun because everyone is pretty much using the same stuff and everyone has a fair chance. This isn't me whining about getting stumped or whining about having to go up against good players because I will tell you now I like the challenge of difficult players. But the problem is and my complaints come from the battles being so one sided. A full squad of proto players with members from well known corps versing off against players who had just joined yesterday and don't even understand how to switch guns. Please CCP the academy was a good start but now you need a veteran only match and an expanded academy. I would like to see tiers or levels in the academy based on allocated skill points and after graduating to a higher tier a small reward.
Thanks for listening Eris Ernaga |

If this thread gets comments it'll be something CCP will implement in their game so could I get feedback on this? It'll take pros out of a lot of instant battles. |

Perhaps the top 5 players on the 'end of match leaderboards' (for each team) should be rewarded significantly more ISK based on there WP earned. Maybe 800 000 ISK more for coming 1st, and 700 000 ISK more for coming 2nd, 600 000 ISK for coming 3rd, 400 000 ISK for coming 4th, 350 000 ISK for coming 5th if all these players get more than 1300 WP for each individual player.
In every game long term players are rewarded more us long term players should be receiving more isk. |

If the problem you have is facing off against too many players who use proto gear as a crutch, I agree. People should be allowed to run their proto fit whenever they feel like it; but losing their proto fit should cost them enough to consider the risk of losing it. This just isn't the case at the moment. Players are just too rich and proto gear too cheap. Even if a player runs out of isk from burning through too many proto fits, they can always fall back on their unlimited supply of starter fits. We as players have no consequence for being without isk and are not discouraged in the least from running our most expensive gear.
PS: I have around 8mil SP at the moment, only run standard/militia gear, and have killed and have been killed by people running proto gear many times.
I have 10.1 mill skill points and have been playing for a year since June 2 this month. I would like to keep around instant battles for the randomness of it but expanding the academy would be great and giving a vets match only would not only be fun for vets but smart.

True but PC only half does it because not every vet is in a corporation and corporation battles are not happening all the time for everyone. About faction warfare/mercenary battles lol no dude only noobs play them and they are never one sided which is why I always play merc battles. Vet battles would allow everyone 10 mill sp and up to play meaning there is no restriction to when someone can play it. |

This game is horribly unbalanced and not really fun for new players unless they are in the academy. I am finding myself more and more capping my active sp and letting the game sit until wedsnday. I don't have fun getting owned by 10 mil sp players every match and I cannot imagine anyone else does either. How many people actually see newer players sticking around anymore? I don't, this game is becoming more unbalanced every week as newer players are simply quoting or afk farming so they can stand a chance against the proto horde.

I would like to keep around instant battles for the randomness of it but expanding the academy would be great and giving a vets match only would not only be fun for vets but smart. Thank you Eris Ernaga This is New Eden, a ruthless place where those who threaten to commit suicide are the butt of jokes. I never liked the notion of academy battles because It creates false expectations for new players. They will have to learn how to face other mercs with more SP than them eventually and coddling them further will be counter productive to that end. Also, the reason for me mentioning my accumulated SP, the gear I run and how I fair in matches against proto fits is not to compare e-peens with you but rather to point out that I'm one of those that you wish to coddle and I do ok against your "vets". \ 1. This is the real world where people invest their time into games that provide a little bit of gratification and they aren't destroyed every match. Furthermore, this community is built of people that have lives and obligations other than building an imaginary character in a video game. 2. This is a world of highly competitive business where the consumer has multiple choices in titles and can leave a game whenever he or she chooses. This includes leaving a free to play game that the consumer has little time invested in because they aren't obligated in recuperating $59.99 for a title. A world of low profit margins, especially considering the game being free 2 play. I would imagine the thought of so many new players leaving would worry ccp, since this is going to be the bulk of their revenue. 3. The fact is at this moment, I don't see this game growing in the direction that CCP wants it to. To most businesses the prospect of limited growth is a killer. CCP probably has obligations to investors to turn some kind of gain. This will require them to bring in new revenue aka new players. I just don't see more new players coming in, especially with how unbalanced the game is coming out of the Academy. 4. Players need the ability of choosing where they want to play and who they want to play with. More experienced players need to be matched up against each other. Until these systems are in place i'm gonna keep building my passive SP unemployment and wait until I can fare up against the proto horde. bring on the haters ;).
Why i posted this thread and another that didn't get many replys on tiers in the academy. |

Yes and I have been playing since closed beta your not a old player your views and opinion doesn't direct the way CCP will shape and make their game especially if that opinion is unfair. You should be stripped of all your skill points and ran in instant battles until you can't take it anymore and quit.

So you think player getting proto stumped and then quitting the game teaches them how to play? You obviously have no clue what you are talking about putting a 500,000 sp player against a 10,000,000 sp player will not teach them to play it will teach them how to loose. Chances are they will not have any genuine skill until they have 2,000,000 mill sp and getting stumped until they reach that point will not make them any better.
Let's be clear you are the one who first mentioned you were playing since open beta so I simply let you know I am an older player then you. You seem to think your personal opinion directs all of New Eden and it's sickening to simply watch you express your opinion. CCP has already created an academy and has plans on expanding the academy so you are directly going against what CCP is doing. You will feel foolish when CCP expands their academy and every comment you put in this post goes directly against CCP's plans. |

And you stated that you fought mercs with much more skill points then you good job this is when barely anyone had proto and even instant battles were easy in a militia suit. These battles don't exist anymore out side of the academy and mercenary battles. So good job stumping on other militia if you were stripped of all your sp today you would change your tune quick. Don't worry I would help by adding my obviously good ideas like expanding the academy and vet only battles. |

Your saying I am attacking you personally but it's exactly what you do in every single one of your post we obviously disagree on the subject. You think new players should loose so bad they should quit the game I feel they should be given somewhere to go to first gain sp then play more difficult players. I also feel veterans or older players should be given a veteran only battle to keep them out of instant battles and allow them to face off equally against other vets.

Maybe that would create virtual tiers or hangouts, you know, groups of players frequenting one match level, which would reduce the pool of potential games and foes but also make it more fair for beginners.
I believe limiting gear is not the way to go and that it should be done by allocated or total sp. |

So I'd say that there needs to be an instant battle opition that opens up once you have, say, 7 Million SP allocated (or whatever number is deemed more appropriate). The option could just be called "Veteran Skirmish" or "Veteran Ambush," to keep thing simple. That option would only let you whip out ADV suits or PROTO ones.
Well a vet is a lot more devastating in a militia suit then a noob is so i am not really for gear restrictions ecspecially when the risk versus reward system is so high right now. But happy we could agree on a vets only battle.
Vets skirmish Vets ambush
great ideas i was thinking about only battle type which might be better for our low player count but giving them options would be nice as well. |

Dunk Mujunk wrote:I've been playing for around a week now, I know I hold absolutely no clout, and i'm not really making any suggestions cause my knowledge is so limited, but here is what i'm seeing:
It's rough for new players. I'm sure it has always been pretty rough for new players. At first I thought a gear based tier system would be good for matchmaking, but I understand now that is not the solution. I don't know what the solution is. Regardless of that, the feeling I get right now is, __ out of every 10 matches I will be utterly worthless. __ out of every 10 matches I will be unable to kill ANYONE at all, __ out of 10 matches almost any weapon from almost any range will kill me in well under a second. Now i'm saying "__ out of 10" because based on the day, the time, and who all is on the same team as me, things do get better or worse. I've found the later it gets at night (i'm on Eastern Standard Time) the more stout the opposition. Also, with today being my first REAL Wednesday, I've found today particularly rough, as i'm guessing everyone is trying to cap out. I don't know how many noobs are AFKing, but if any are, I wanna say I can't blame them, even though I won't, and do not approve. I personally don't AFK (and I have the sh1tty stats to prove it lol). I'm not complaining. If this is what everyone goes through, then I should have to go through it as well. But when you're worried about adding new players and, more importantly, retaining new players, to say "yeah, you can't really do **** until you're a couple months in at least", that seems to be a pretty self destructive business model. Especially when your income counts on people saying "ok, I like and or enjoy this game, i'll throw down some cash" as opposed to "well I spent 60 bucks on the game, it sucks, moving on". Would you buy an oven from Sears if they told you that it wouldn't work right for 2 or 3 months? It'll turn on, you just can't cook anything with it. You'd go to Brandsmart and spend an extra 60 bucks to buy an oven you could use right then. I won't lie, I've vented (borderline complained lol) on a few posts here in the forum, but sometimes that's the only thing I am able to do. I am in it for the long haul good or bad, for now at least, and hopefully, sooner rather than later, I hit the point where i'm able to compete with seasoned, well equipped Dust members in meaningful battles. That being said, once I finally do become a seasoned, well equipped member of the Dust community, if my only options for battle are laggy, crappy PC battles (<---I know nothing at all of these ATM) or continually ass raping Rookies, i'm not sure I would want to play anymore.
lol and this relates to my thread how? You are saying a vets only battle would be good cause you wouldn't have to stump on noobs? |

I wasn't bashing your point I kind of came to the conclusion that this was a support reply. |

After being in 3 complete stompings where the older players were racking up 20-30+(around 4 in one match alone) kills on people who had no idea how to fight back all I can say is wtf, how do you expect someone who can hardly even get a standard dropsuit or even standard gear to face against someone in full proto with over 10mil of sp. The matches aren't even fun anymore,....
Well a vets only battle would take them out of these instant battles so +1 this thread if you want to see better balancing in dust. |

Midas Fool wrote:Eris Ernaga wrote:Please CCP lets give the vets somewhere to go how about a match labeled veterans battle this is for 10 mill skill points and above players only.
Eris Ernaga +10 I made this exact request about a week ago. See if you agree. It's in this thread.
Good thread needs some alterations though. |

Given the choice, I think alot of these players would rather feel like superman than face a challenge. Even if it is an act that drives away new players and harms the game.
New players need to learn to work together and communicate. Form squads and set objectives. It doesn't take a proto suit to lay waste to unorganized solo player teams.
Valid points however any step in the right direction is good for CCP's game. A veterans only battle is necessary to keep those of who do not wish to proto stomp and who do not wish to get paired up with newer players an alternative. Veterans only battles I'm sure will be filled even if there is the occasional proto stumper still joining instant battles. Like wise the academy needs tiers to keep newer players out of instant battles, instant battles should serve as an in between for the two groups. We desperately need to segregate our new and older players and this system offers a way to do just that. |

It's the difference between having every proto player in instant battles with almost every noob fresh out of the academy. The new system will probably take over half or more of these people out of instant battles and give them something a bit more hardcore. |

Kind of defeats the purpose of a vets only battle you should have to earn access. |

Skill points, no need for more tiers everyone at 10 mill sp will probably be running something proto. |
